The school is like any other school as it has its good and bad points. Overall the school is athletically and academically average however it is the staff members/admins, not the teachers, who i believe can be better. The way the school handles things can be questionable. Recently a widely known club who has been there for years has been discontinued because the school believes the big event it does twice a year is too much to handle. It is a popular event many people look forward to. The decision seems very unfair and unjust. Compared to other smaller clubs, this club helps members learn more about team work and leadership through creating and hosting the event. The event was planned and executed wholly by club officers and volunteers with the help of the adviser. Schools are supposed to create opportunities, not destroy it.

American is known for its inclusive, welcoming philosophy. This encourages students to be themselves and pursue whatever they feel passionate about. As a result, we have a diverse and talented population, whose competitiveness sheds onto the entire school. Although competitive, students are eager to help one another, which makes collaborative learning very efficient.
Teachers have varying ability, with some capable of tailoring their curriculum to any kind of learner, and with some being static and one dimensional. Although some faculty members are less engaging than I would like, all of them care about their students and do their best to communicate the material to them. Old and young, the teachers are friendly and approachable, making learning from mistakes or asking questions very accessible.
At American high school, there is diversity everywhere. The environment that the school has created a sense of freedom, and ability to express yourself in any way that you wish. A majority of the teachers I've had actually teach, which is very important to me as a student. In the past, I've had teachers that didn't do much other than assign us work, and give us a grade. Nevertheless, my school also offers many opportunities to their students. For example, I had been given the opportunity to join a program that would allow me to travel abroad this summer to learn about the different cultures that lie behind our boarders with almost all expenses paid. In conclusion, I am glad I've been placed in this school, as I believe it will help me grow further into my future.
