Altoona High School, is located in the suburbs of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The district is like any other high school, offering several Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and allows Juniors-Seniors to partake in dual credit opportunities at our technical college. The school is a closed campus, and allows students to eat in the lobby, which is right as you walk in. Our student body, however, is not very diverse with majority in white, heterosexuals, and minority of people of color, and very FEW LGBTQ+ members. This school does NOT act quickly, and has a tendency to be ignorant as well as blatantly unaccepting of new ideas/ideology.

I have been going to the Altoona School District since kindergarten, so I have many different opinions about his school. Most schools only have a certain amount of classes based on the large interest range but I would still like to see more availability such as more AP classes and more electives. About 90% of my teachers have been adequate or better I have been taught by some that make me wonder how they still have their job. I say this because I have been in classes where the students have ran the class while the teacher just sits there and watches for the hour. I have also seen students more qualified than the teacher because it seems they have a better understanding of the subject. School culture was about the same as any other schools culture; the failures would sit in the school bathrooms and Juul, everyone was in their own click/group, assemblies and other school activities happened regularly. Overall I would recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a smaller school.
Altoona High School may be a pretty small school, but beware of how well it does its job.
The staff members are fantastic! The lunch ladies are fun to talk to, the custodian staff are pretty neat if you get to know them and the teachers? They're amazing. They're not just teachers; they're your friends. They're always there whenever you need extra help with schoolwork and they're even willing to spare extra minutes, even hours, out of their life to listen to you and help you get through whatever it is that's bothering you.
The overall atmosphere in Altoona High School is pretty great!
