From the first time we visited Allendale Columbia School we have been greeted with smiles and warm welcomes from the energetic faculty. The admissions team, front secretary, and early school teachers knew my children by name following our first visit. After considering several options, Allendale was an obvious choice for us and we couldn't be happier! Our two children come home from Nursery and Pre-K with so much to share. They're greeting us in Spanish, telling us about instruments they've played or are interested in, Science experiments they've done, and projects they're working on. Their teachers communicate with parents daily through photos and/or classroom updates. My children love their school and I love that their days are enriching as they're being prepared for the world they will inherit.
Our children could not be more excited to get up and go to school every day! One of the things I really love about the academic program at Allendale Columbia, is their Project Based Learning (PBL) philosophy.
Through PBL, children gain knowledge and skills through engaging in the topic through research. They are engaged in tackling real-world scenarios, challenges and problems. With PBL, my kids are developing deep content knowledge, critical thinking, creativity, communication skills and learning how to work in teams. The teachers collaborate with each other and the chosen topic is also a focus in art, math, STEM, etc.
The teachers at Allendale Columbia are engaging my children in a way that makes them excited to learn. This contagious, creative energy, is teaching my kids at a very young age that learning is fun, which will last a lifetime.

I love this school! I am a parent of 3 children at Allendale and have been here 5 years. I went to Pittsford, and while it is an excellent district, there is so much at Allendale that you cannot get in a public school. They teach using project based learning which means they incorporate history, math, science, music, etc into topics that the students choose themselves and are excited to learn about. The students investigate and respond to authentic, engaging, and complex questions. They sit together at lunch at tables grouped by different grades and teachers. They set the table, serve family style, and clean up themselves by composting, trash and recycling. They learn how to program robots and speak Spanish. They have amazing after school learning opportunities. They play on the playground numerous times a day. They are treated with respect. The children are kind to each other. If your school isn’t working for you, try Allendale. So many of us really love it here.
