I am new to Allen (moved from Chicago) as a Senior so I am not that familiar with everything that goes on but it can be very hard to adjust with the vast amount of students at this school. At my old school there were only 300 in my graduating class, at Allen there are over 1,600! I wish the school communicated to new students more because they never told me about Senior Portraits (that was taken before I moved here) or how things work in the school. The cafeteria food is far better than my old school but I don’t eat because the lines can be as long as the lunch hour. It’s very hard to make friends even with the large population of students in the school. I’m just trying to get through this year.

What I like about Allen High School is its diverse selection of courses. As a student who takes many AP courses, I am incredibly grateful to be given the opportunity to take challenging courses where I can learn something new and develop myself into a better student. The staffs are definitely easy to communicate with via the student email, in person, or even in student led committees such as the Principal's Advisory Team, which I am a part of. Perhaps one thing that could improve in this school would be encouraging more students to participate in clubs and volunteer opportunities in the school. There are many driven students who help run clubs; however the word needs to go out to students who may not have direct access to the information provided about clubs and organizations. Being part of organizations and extracurricular activities will not only increase school spirit, but will also encourage students to feel a sense of belonging within the school.
The large size of the school body allows for you to meet new people almost every single day. Not only that, but because it's such a well known program, it ensures that all of being a teacher there is competitive. This means that the best teachers will be educating your children. It also allows for a plethora of different types of classes focusing on many different career goals. There are classes for media, sports management, medicine, engineering, and more!
