Nease has incredible academies, along with the International Baccalaureate program, dual enrollment opportunities, the #1 ROTC program in the nation, and top tier athletics. With about 2600 students, Nease is a large school which helps create opportunities for students. The teachers are very informative and Nease consistently scores very high in standardized tests. The campus has a pod layout, so students walk outside between classes. This is refreshing and gives the school an open atmosphere, but can really suck during heavy rain. Nease is also located right off of US-1, and traffic is a problem at the start and end of the day. Low district salaries also contributes to high teacher and counselor turnover.
Allen D. Nease High School provides the opportunities for its students to grow and success in their adult lives. The school provides various courses and college-prep programs, such as AP courses, the IB Program, and Dual Enrollment. Students have the ability to learn new things from a diverse range of classes.
However, academics are one part of a school, and it unfortunately is the only strong aspect of Nease High School. The school's administration are indifferent to the struggles of their students, often using a condescending attitude and blames students for what they cannot control. This behavior only worsened during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Hundreds of students who choose to learn virtually were denied support by the administration and even by many teachers.
I hope that by sharing my experience at Nease High School, both students and teachers can improve their behavior towards education and each other, fostering a positive impact on themselves and their community.

Allen D. Nease High School provides a variety of academic programs for students. My experience in high school in the International Baccalaureate program was mostly positive. The diversity at Nease gave me a chance to learn about other people's experiences and perspectives. The teachers pushed me to be the best version of myself. The IB program definitely prepared me for college. At times, I was a bit overwhelmed with school and other commitments. However, I think this is a normal experience for high school students at any school. Additionally, Nease is known for its athletic culture. All of the sports compete at a high level. The athletes also have access to great facilities, coaching, and equipment. One thing that I wish would have been different is the limited amount of freedom we had on campus. While I understand the increased safety measures, the rules and regulations did not allow for much freedom.
