Currently, I'm a sophomore at Alief Early College. I totally recommend this school if you're not a big sports fan as we aren't really heavy on the sports here. One thing that's upset me about the school though is how Engineer heavy they are. The only programs they seem to offer are solely for Engineering kids / Mechanics. When I've asked about any other programs such as medical programs, I was given a 'Sorry, but no.' They consider the associates in Science to fall under Medical which to be fair is somewhat true but still heavily disappointing. Otherwise, the school is amazing and ALL the teachers truly care about you. Grades slipping? All the teachers will harass you about it until you bring it back up! With love of course.
My experience with Alief Early College has been incredible. It has given me the opportunity and freedoms needed to really understand what it is like to be in a college. The staff cares deeply about the students and tries their hardest to assist everyone individually. We are given the resources needed and instruction needed to understand our classes. If you are looking for school that will push you into the best position for college this is your best choice!
Overall Alief Early College is an amazing school, the staff are really committed to your success and while the campus is really small you have access to both HCC buildings nearby. The environment is also great its a small community but that means everyone is close and easy to reach out to if you need something like help with homework or even for personal matters everyone is eager to help. Something I think that could be expanded upon is probably just the food and maybe investment in non-stem related stuff. The STEAM environment is amazing but the art, music, and sport suffer and only exists as clubs.
