Overall, my experience at Algonquin Regional High School was very good. The majority of teachers and faculty members were extremely helpful and pleasant to work with over my years at the school. Whether it was an academic or personal issue, I always felt that there was a teacher or guidance counselor that I could reach out to for support. I also recognized the commitment to academics at Algonquin and the variety of specialized courses offered prepares students for what they want to focus on in college. Although Algonquin has put effort into this issue, there is definitely more that can be done to promote inclusivity and kindness within the school.
Academically, Algonquin is excellent. The teachers are invested in their students and are passionate about their curriculum. For the past four years, every single teacher I have had, has been great! The course selection is very diverse, allowing me to take subjects such as criminal justice, fashion, and silent voices. The school also has a great sports culture, with the bleachers always filled with cheering students. Sadly the student body isn't very diverse. The school is quite sheltered from "real life" and the issues you may face if you live in a more urban environment.
I loved my academic experience at Algonquin! There are so many clubs and athletic teams available to students, and I found it easy to fit in. The academics are top notch and the teachers are helpful and supportive to students. Overall, these last few years at Algonquin have been great for me, and I will especially miss the school spirit!
