This school is an average school and the campus life is nice but some students can be a bit rowdy. The teachers within this school are pretty laid back and some teachers don't put that much effort into teaching the students. This school has academies and provides dual-credit classes which is helpful for the students in the future. This school tries it best to provide opportunities for its students but sometimes doesn't provide the best of choices. This school is pretty packed with 3,000 students and has such a limited amount of classrooms. the school wasn't built to hold this many students. The district doesn't fund this school as much as they should, especially with the amount of students attending so we end up getting the bare minimum for our education.

My experience at this school has been amazing! They offer so many different programs and I am happy to say I am in the Criminal Justice Program and have currently been accepted into a 911 ECOM internship. Along side their great programs the atmosphere is great and positive and my overall experience here has been one I will remember forever, from the staff to the friends I have made, this place I can truly call home and will forever be a big part of my life. I wouldn't have chosen a better school to attend and I am very proud to say I am an Akins Eagle and a graduate of such an amazing school.
Hello, my name is Josue Rubio and I'm a Junior at Akins High School. I'm not finished with my time there but for the time I have been there, I have learned a lot. To start, the teachers are fun and engaging when they teach and they push us for the best results. Outside of academics, the school provides free breakfast ad lunch to all students and while it's not the best, it gets the job done. Thirdly, the Principal, Mrs. Salazar, is a strict but easy-going person who wants the best for the students of Akins and truly tries her hardest to improve the environment at Akins, academically and socially. Finally, I would like to touch upon their college-readiness programs. At Akins, they not only provide dual-enrollment courses at ACC but they also provide UT Onramps courses. These courses not only give aspiring students and early experience of college but they also give these students a chance at receiving college credit while still in high school.
