It's really good in comparison to other public schools in the area. The teachers are dedicated to the learning of students and pay close attention to students struggling with academics and or have disabilities. There is are very strong stem courses within the school that are highly encouraged and every student is offered a place amount them. The school, however, is lacking in extracurricular activities and in the arts. Academics are pushed more than sports, so if that's what you are interested in perhaps look at other schools. The schools are mainly Hispanic and black and the teachers are predominantly white, so diversity is a bit questionable. Overall, the school is a good stepping stone towards higher education.

I really appreciate the effort the teachers and counselor put into supporting the students whether academically, socially, or psychologically. I also enjoy being a part of a very supportive community, where students are celebrating each other for academic achievements and pushing each other to be their best selves. The pre college programs offered to sign up for in the summer is my favorite part about my highschool because I have been able to experience the college life at Columbia, Cornell, and Brown University. These experiences have molded my inquiry and passion that I plan to encounter during my college experience. While the food is not the best, the most important things that matter like support, guidance, opportunities, and quality of learning are provided by my highschool which is why I enjoy being a highschool student of Achievement First University Prep High School.
This is the #1 way we deliver on our promise to students. Our principals participate in a two-year residency before leading a school. Our new teachers start strong with five weeks of summer professional development. Every teacher and leader has a coach who provides individualized feedback and support (and we have some of the lowest coach to teacher ratios around).

We join forces on everything we do to be our best for kids.
