I started at Academy of Science and Innovation at the age of 11 and now I’m a 16-year-old junior. I can definitely say the school is greatly diverse with students raging of different races, ethnicities, cultures, genders, religions, etc., which makes it a great environment to not make you feel excluded. It’s pretty quiet too, not many issues arise throughout the year, surprisingly. My problem comes in with the academic portion, however. The teachers are nice, but the school is too small and lacks teachers for more courses to be taught. The school also lacks in school spirit, mainly because the school doesn’t offer many sports, much less a place to have them. The middle school and high school combo in one makes it really hard to manage both without one group receiving less attention, in this case the middle schoolers. The school doesn’t have much money either, but that’s a whole separate conversation. Point is, the school is pretty decent, but definitely not the best out there.
The teachers were incredible. They show how much they care about their students by going above and beyond for them. Each teacher had their own effective way of teaching their students, that gave them the chance to learn what they needed. They were also there for the students emotionally by giving them the support or advice they needed. The school offered interesting classes that exposed the students to things they may have never known they'd like, such as, musical theater, digital photography, robotics, etc. The diversity in the school is also amazing and eye-opening. I truly wish there were a few more after school activities offered, however, I understand that the after school transportation was always a problem with CREC. Overall, the school is worth it!
It’s a great school if you want to further peruse a career in science, and technology. Starting from middle school you get to choose most of your classes and figure out what you like and don’t like. The school is always kept clean and maintained. My experience has been great at this school counselors really try to help you find sources for you be successful after high school.
