They provide a great education. I enjoyed the all-girls aspect because it really helped me build my confidence + self-esteem as a woman and gave me the necessary tools I need to succeed in college and beyond. I really grew as a person during my time at OLP and developed many lifelong friendships. I am happy that I took advantage of the many opportunities this school provided me, like leadership positions and volunteer opportunities, as it helped me when I applied for college. Something I'd like to see improved on is student-to-administration communication and transparency when it comes to issues that impact/involve students.
The best part about OLP is the sisterhood and meaningful bonds I create with the girls. The challenging classes help excel my knowledge while they also create a very strong family bond between myself and my teachers. The worst part of my experience at OLP was the transition from middle school to the Academy. I came to OLP not knowing any current students. I am very active in sports at OLP which is great because they offer many exciting sports programs and I was able to meet many more girls quickly. I would like to see the unity between our brother school, Saints, become stronger by us doing more activities together.
This is a great high school and we receive one of the best educations in the state. There are only a few areas where I feel they fall short- first, most of the administration is unfriendly or unhelpful. This makes it hard to get help with classes and do simple things like get checked out early. My parents got scolded for checking me out early without calling in beforehand (for the first time ever) even though the front desk admin had been told that we were having a family emergency. Additionally, all the teachers are extremely liberal and discuss politics in class, pushing their views on students. Great education, great sports, great campus food and security, but not the best fit for everyone.
