The environment at this school is not healthy for teenagers. I often spent at least 5 hours each night doing hw and had to cancel plans on the weekends just to manage the workload. One teacher in particular would constantly make her class harder and give bad grades to normally Straight-A students just because she wanted to and would often talk about students behind their backs to other classes. However, teachers like Mr Comtois, Ms Shaw, Mrs McKnelly, Mr Walczak, Señora Collins, Mrs Cosgrove, Mr Flynn and Ms Stamas are so helpful and some of the nicest people I have met. My experience with athletics was also terrible, as I spent both my junior and senior years sitting on the bench for a varsity team that only won 3 games each season. Coaches would pick favorites and if you were not a favorite (I was not), then they did not care about you and nothing would be done by administration when issues were reported. However, I did end up getting into a good college and making great friends.

Hi, my name is Lana and I am currently a junior at the Academy of Notre Dame. Ever since I toured NDA, I knew that it was the school for me! There is a true sense of sisterhood among the girls here. Our classes are small and the teachers are inspirational and most of all, patient :-). They always make time for us! The Academy encourages us to take on leadership roles and there are opportunities to start our own clubs. The education is great and I am looking forward to getting into my top college pick (as others have done before me)...and, more importantly, being able to succeed once I get there.
For the last four years, the Academy has helped me to become a confident leader and has shown me that I will go far in life. The atmosphere throughout the halls is incredible and inviting to all that come to visit. The teachers know what they are doing and want to see their students succeed and that kind of energy is good, especially at a small Catholic all-girls high school. However, I know there are changes coming, but the facilities need to be fixed and updated to accommodate for the new year that will include boys. I hope, after I graduate from NDA, the traditions of women leadership are kept and all the other traditions that have been implemented before boys arrived stay the same. Academy of Notre Dame will forever be my second family and I truly appreciate that.
