When I applied to AAHS a few years ago, I honestly didn't know what to expect. But after my first few weeks at the Academy, I instantly knew I made the right choice. If you have the grades and test scores to apply, I can't recommend Allied more. The whole teaching staff is extremely supportive and will make sure that you are doing the best you can, and it's not a challenge to form strong relationships with the teachers because they are passionate about what they teach and make sure you can learn as best you can. The student environment is very inviting and friendly, I can't think of any instances of bullying for the whole time I've been here. And if you are interested in medicine, there are endless opportunities for hands-on experience, whether it is mentoring at Jersey Shore Medical across the street, or shadowing a specific physician at their practice. Going here was one of the best decisions I've ever made and I strongly urge others to give AAHS a try. You won't regret it!
This is a school for those who wish to have a lower than average school experience. It is a pain to get through classes that either have incompetent teachers, incompetent classmates, or classes that are just pure busy work where no learning takes place. People talk behind each other's backs, the school has 1 AP option, 1 language(Spanish), and the math department has teachers that simply read off textbooks. The school advertises itself as a vocational school designed for future healthcare occupations of some field in medicine, and it fulfills that claim in a variety of ways from volunteering to special "Rutgers" courses and field trips and mentorship. Nevertheless, these Rutgers courses are almost useless anywhere besides RU. Not to mention, the school is underfunded and didn't even have a library until this year. No sports, no art. The school has let me down both in all ways. I would recommend you to go to your home-highschool for a more fulfilling high school experience.
It’s a small (300 students at most) magnet public high school that will prepare you to further your education towards a career in the medical sciences. It’s a National Blue Ribbon School several times already with the latest being in 2018.
Great teachers that are willing to go out of their way to make sure you succeed. Amazing principal & office staff! Smaller teacher/student ratios & you will get to know everyone. It’s a career academy with a rigorous curriculum that will definitely prepare you for college. You can graduate with college credits. I will graduate come June 2020 & I would make the choice to attend AAHS all over again. I will be pursuing a future in medicine and AAHS has given me the perfect foundation to build upon. I am grateful for the many opportunities that AAHS provides their students. From hospital rotations to community-based partnerships, and mentorship, Thank You! I would highly recommend the Academy of Allied Health & Science, Neptune.
