The lack of academic motivation that should be given to the students is saddening. Many of the students have elementary-level skills, yet no one seems to help them to the fullest extent. Some teachers do a poor job at actually teaching. The students themselves are already unmotivated, so there’s a lot of activity such as ditching, but admin complains about it more than actually trying to motivate them to work. They know some teachers don’t teach, yet still allow those teachers to slack off.
I believe the school does have potential, a lot of potential. It’s relatively new but has made somewhat of progress in the past years. The small handful of teachers who actually do care to teach their students are amazing. I would highly recommend incoming students to NOT attend this school as of right now. You will not gain any great academic skills except from one or two teachers at the school. For the sake of college readiness, do not attend this school.

My experience at Academy for Multilingual Arts and Sciences was overall an amazing experience. I moved to that school entering my sophomore year, as time went by the school has tried to create a better and safer environment. The staff is great and students have mostly been nice, kind people. I would like to see an improvement on the college-readiness for students. The counselors Ms. Hills-King and Mr. Pierce should not be helping in that school, they don't help out as much and I think that my school should help better counselors that actually want to help kids achieve a better, successful career for their future. The principal and staff members are hard workers and we as students appreciate everything that has been accomplished this academic school year.
It’s an okay school. The teachers do try to teach you and I guess it all depends on the students if they want to make this the best school they can make it into or the most lame boring school. Overall staff for the most part are great, if students keep getting involved then the school will be great soon too!
