AAHS is definitely a place that helps students prepare for life outside of high school and especially college education. It is extremely rigorous and high demanding. I liked how focused it is on health sciences and education; however, I wish students had more freedom to choose the classes they wanted to take. Unfortunately, almost everything is set and stone which puts students with other interests at a disadvantage. There are no fun field trips or anything like that but they do their best with spirit week and bake sales almost every day. This school really prepares students for college, especially if they are looking into occupations in the health care field!

There is an academically rigorous environment present at this school and all the students are motivated to self and community betterment. The competition is motivating, yet not stifling, and mental health is emphasized in its importance. The only main issue is the nature of class choices as there are not many options, with regards to APs or humanities in addition to the vocational classes. Some of the teachers are not as good at connecting with their classes, but those that are go above and beyond. Addittionally, there are no music and art classes, and many of the clubs are underfunded, but the students and advisors both have passion and involvement in the clubs they are in.
Allied Health is a great place to go to high school. The classes are small, and you get the best academic rigor you can get. I learned many useful skills in medicine and health, and my study skills and leadership have strengthened tremendously. Most of the specialized allied health classes are in dual enrollment with Rutgers university, so students are able to earn credits each year after they pass the test. The teachers and counselors give excellent support in learning, test prep, and applying to college. However, the curriculum can be a little constricting; I only had one elective junior year and three for senior year. I also wish there were more classes in the arts, which there are very few. Also, there are no sports teams, so students play for their town's high school. Overall, I had an amazing experience at Allied, and I would recomend middle schoolers to start looking into UCVTS if they are interested in a unique, challening high school experience.
