From Ability School

Ability School has been educating children in Pre-K through Middle School for nearly 40 years! Our program is unique in that it is centered around a mastery based learning model rather than one dictated by time spent in the classroom. Instead of placing a child based on age or time spent on a particular level, Ability School builds individualized programs for each student. Studying at their own pace, children can achieve 100% mastery before advancing. At every level, students also learn valuable study skills that will last them a lifetime.

Our curriculum focuses on building a strong foundation with a firm grasp of the basics. In addition to reading, writing, mathematics, science and history, the full and rich curriculum also includes music, creative writing, art, field trips and extracurricular activities.

Ability School strives to empower children to become competent life long learners who are successful in learning whatever subjects may interest them.

What is proficiency based learning?

academic spotlight

Ability School's curriculum is designed to encourage independent learners through a proficiency based learning model. Rather than a typical time based system where each individual in the class is expected to learn at the same pace, Ability School students progress at their own pace, tackling more difficult subject matter gradually after 100% mastery of their current material.
