Worcester Polytechnic Institute Reviews

9 reviews
The professors are very knowledgeable and care about how you are progressing during the term. They often incorporate subject matter that is very relevant for someone who is simultaneously working in a related field. Most of the online classes are easy to navigate and sometimes have in-person laboratories associated with the course. Some of the courses work strictly off of the book while others are based more heavily on the lectures so there is a good mixture of the two styles in case you learn differently. The atmosphere is excellent because you have many engineering students on campus so the emphasis on STEM is very noticeable. The students are driven but collaborative so you end up learning a lot from your peers. Even the online classes are small so you can get to know your fellow classmates and the professor well. The campus itself is not too large and located in Worcester, a major city which is centrally located in Massachusetts. I would definitely recommend this school.

This is an excellent university. The professors are well-educated and come from various backgrounds within a department. If you are interested in a particular topic, there is usually a professor who is doing research on it or something similar. The classes are challenging and you feel as if you are constantly learning new subject matter.
While some professors can be difficult to follow in lectures, all of them are willing to meet with students one-on-one to answer questions. The materials being taught are high level, as they should be for grad school, but I have never found myself in a situation where I did not have the resources to fully understand. My only complaint is that it is harder to retain lessons for the shorter term based classes since we must move through the material so fast.
