Great experience, had a hard time with advising though. Many advisors do not know what they are doing. I accidentally ended up in the wrong classes, taking classes I didn't need to (wasting $ and time). Don't rely on advisors, rely on you and yourself only. have to be responsible for making sure all of your classes and your education are on the right track. Can be very stressful and confusing when they are supposed to be there for support!
Going into the university of Wisconsin-Whitewater, academics as well as my student life was very important to me. I graduate in December of 2022 and I can not say enough how impactful my professors have been to me in these last three years being at UWW. They are always willing to make time outside of the classroom when needed and even during the period where COVID-19 forced us to be completely remote, office hours were still strongly implemented and they encouraged each of us to utilize. The course work in every class that I have taken in one way or another have opened my mind to different outlooks in life and broaden my perspective. As a Pre-med Biology student, the course work can sometimes be challenging but definitely not impossible. The curriculum taught at UWW and the resources available to students in my opinion is very competitive and even comparable to some of the top schools in the nation.
Going into the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater as a transfer student, I really admired how open and friendly students as well as the professors were. Also, when it came to deciding on a school it was important for me as an African American Muslim woman to be surrounded by those likeminded much like myself so I loved that UWW was able to provide that sense of belonging and ultimately security for me. Attending school at UWW, you will notice that everyone has panther pride even if you are an individual that grew up in a household where American football was not regularly watched much like in my own household. Nonetheless, it was always nearly impossible for me to also not share in on the excitement about home games or spring splash when it rolled around. The university of Wisconsin-Whitewater in these last three years have opened my eyes to so much, given me so much joy and enabled me to meet some of my now closest friends that I couldn't imagine meeting if I did not attend UWW.
