University of Rhode Island Reviews
Rating 4.15 out of 5 20 reviews
The academics were challenging, especially within the ocean engineering field, but the amount of material learned was so useful and professor truly helped me on focusing on one specific area being offshore renewable wind energy to better our planet and future. As well as take the steps in combating climate change. The importance of helping fix the climate to the best of our abilities and the cleaner sources of energy we have on this planet, the better quality of life every person will have. Viruses like the covid-19 outbreak will become more controlled and intense storms from the warming planet will become less intense in the future and less frequent again. My roll in life is to make this planet sustainable and help human development in a very clean way.
Enrollment process was not organized, lack of communication among departments. After reaching out to specific department heads, this helped to rectify the situation. I was not assigned an advisor until late almost my second year, which definitely altered with my course progression. I believe there was some staff transitions, and the department is run much smoother. In any case, someone was able to get back to me if I reached out.
The campus itself is gorgeous, classrooms are designed for the optimal learning experience.

I am very proud to haven taken challenging steps to become an ocean engineer, but also continue my studies at the same university for a graduate degree. As one of the only women of color in the ocean engineering program I was very proud of myself especially coming from a single mother with multiple sclerosis. If there is one thing the university could work on, it would be more resources for funding and more activities of inclusion to spread diversity.
