The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) provides students with guidance and support in their graduate education. Several resources are available at no cost to students, including a writing center, workshops, and stress-relieving activities. The Graduate Student Committee allows students to serve in leadership roles, advocate for themselves and others, and network with other graduate students. Many of UMD's graduate programs provide students with opportunities to gain hands-on practice in their respective field. I have benefited from hands-on training, engaging courses, conducting an independent research project under the supervision of a professor, and a plethora of services related to graduate students. UMD continuously strives to equip students with the tools they need to thrive within and beyond graduate school.
I am currently studying communication sciences and disorders M.A. at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD). While the academic component of this degree is rigorous, it also is incredibly meaningful. I am learning relevant information in the diagnosing and treating of a wide variety of communication and swallowing problems. Much of my coursework is relevant to what I will do as a speech-language pathologist, such as developing treatment plans and interpreting diagnostic assessments. I am simultaneously challenged and supported in my academics.
The University of Minnesota Duluth is an excellent location for every kind of student. The faculty and staff are highly educated professionals with the mission to have each and every one of their students prepared for their careers. Not only are the programs thorough and educating, the campus and location is unbeatable. You are in the heart of Duluth with the feel of a suburb surrounded with the beauty of Lake Superior. I loved attending this school and I recommend it to anyone interested in having the best college experience possible.
