University of Maryland College of Education Reviews
Rating 1 out of 5 2 reviews
Academic rigor here was mediocre at best. Reading assignments lasted for maybe 15 hours out of a 40 hour week. The curriculum was outdated. I should've been reading about legal cases in education policy, instead I was exposed to a lot of old stuff. The technology was average. Its the faculty that reek here. Its the faculty (not the students) who don't have relationship building skills. If you decide to do the Ph.D. just prepare to do it on your own. The faculty is more concerned with getting off at 5 than they are about your research. Plan to shame and embarrass them in the future when they see you were determined to make a difference. If you've studied at an IVY League, just know there is not much the faculty can do add to you...
I'll never forget my first year in the Ph.D. program a faculty professor commented that she was too much of a money making contributor to be involved in student research. This professor said that to an A student, someone who aced her school finance class almost effortlessly. If her contributions were that significant, why hadn't she elected to teach and make contributions at an Ivy League where there is more reward & recognition? Ego & grandiosity characterized most of her faculty colleagues too. Nothing to gain here.
