University of Maryland - University College Graduate Reviews

I am currently in a graduate program in biotechnology taking courses online. It's my first experience with online schooling and has been positive this far. I work full time but the schedule is flexible in that you can do reading/coursework in your own time as long as you meet deadlines. Classes are facilitated by professors but so far my learning has been mostly self directed (ie I've been responsible for reading material/viewing PowerPoint presentations). However the professors have been good/timely about responding when contacted. All the classes I've taken so far have also had a discussion component. All in all, I feel like I am getting a sufficient amount of instruction and interaction. Graduate programs here I think are best suited for those already in the field they wish to study and want to add to their knowledge to advance in their current career. Also, though it doesn't apply to me, it seems they have good resources for current or former military.

I love the knowledge, encouraging and helpful staff at University of Maryland Global Campus. I look forward to attending Spring classes.....2020 is the year for success!
As an older student that has been out of college for nearly 20 years, I am very impressed with the approach that University of Maryland University College (UMUC) takes to acclimate students to the academic environment. When I was an undergrad, I used a word processor to type my papers and the registration process involved standing in a long line at the registrar's office! Needless to say, I was nervous about how I would adjust to a more technologically advanced college setting. However, my experience at UMUC with selecting my major, enrolling in my classes, and the hybrid class format has made me feel confident and prepared to obtain my Master's degree in Information Technology. Therefore, I highly recommend UMUC, especially to non-traditional students who may be apprehensive about starting or returning to school.
