Teachers College has amazing, enlightened, open-minded students and faculty and beautiful, historic facilities. The academic level of the classes is first-rate. It really is one of the world's finest leaning institutions.
In particular, I found the Philosophy and Education department at Teachers College a very welcoming and forward-thinking community with graduate student research focused primarily on interpersonal relationships and their benefits to education - a topic that I am very passionate about as well, so it was a perfect fit for me.

The degree I am pursuing is prestigious and rigorous with quality programming with a great network of students. Although Teachers College Columbia University offers one of the best education for my field of study, the financial costs are overwhelming. More could be done to ensure that students are not so financially burdened.
Teacher's College offered TESOL program in Tokyo, which allowed me to enroll in the program while being in Tokyo. Though it has closed the branch, I now got an opportunity to study in New York, for which I'm grateful. Teaching situation of the English language differs dramatically between ESL and EFL settings. I hope it offers programs in different parts of the world, as they once did in Tokyo.
