The counseling graduate program has been going through a lot of changes and has been going through a multitude of faculty members. There are some courses that I wish were available here that are available at other universities. However, a big pro for this school is that the professors are very helpful, reasonable, and genuinely want to make you a better counselor. Outside the program, the school is located in a decent-sized town, with a multitude of things to do. The campus is beautiful, and the school allows graduate students to stay on campus if they need to.
My graduate program is the Multidisciplinary Studies program. This program has allowed me to have so much freedom in terms of what I study and what courses to take. My experience with this program has been beyond excellent because before, I was not sure what I wanted to study until I was told about this program. Since then, I have been a proud Multidisciplinary Studies student.
I really enjoy attending SFA. The class sizes are small enough that every professor has known my name and they have plenty of office hours to go into for extra help. I would like to see more options of professors for the education program. As you get further along into the program, the professor options become slim so you can end up taking 3 classes with the same professor regardless on if you think they are a good professor or not. It makes it hard to be honest in class evaluations because you may have that teacher for two more semesters.
