Master's Student: This review is largely dependent upon the student attending YSPH and what they seek to gain from the experience. As a student of color in higher education, I was personally seeking a welcoming environment conducive to my academic and professional development. While YSPH offers opportunities to engage with the community, develop technical research skills, and establish a network of professional relationships, it struggles to cater to the needs of its most underrepresented, underfunded students. This includes having poor URM ratios in staff, faculty, and student populations. This is also impacted by limited transportation provisions set by Yale as well as barriers accessing healthy, affordable, and accessible grocery stores. The campus of course has great things to offer as well including a nine-story gym to encourage physical fitness and health among its students; beautiful and spacious libraries spread throughout; leisurely activities including restaurants, hiking, and shopping.... Master's Student: For a completely online semester due to the pandemic, our professors were extremely understanding and accommodating. A bit unfortunate the school did not provide us with STATA packages and so we had to log into the school's system which ran slow sometime, but overall I felt the school still cared/supported its students in other areas (providing additional study equipment i.e. monitors, desks, etc.)... Graduate Student: I have been a graduate student at Duke for almost 4 years in a life-science related PhD( Cell Biology) program. I would highly recommend Duke STEM graduate programs to anyone. Graduate school has a good support systems for students overall when it comes to professional development, exploring alternative career options, student wellness overall. In the past there has been some disagreements between the school administration and graduate school council regarding some student benefits ( coverage of dental insurance etc), but overall I would say students are content with Duke.... Master's Student: I'm a 2nd year MPH student. The good: - The interdisciplinary concentration is incredibly flexible - you can truly shape your academic experience and take classes that are meaningful to you - Tons of resources - both at the SPH and "on the hill" - The building is open 24/7 - makes for a nice, quiet place to study when the library is overstimulating The not-so-good: - Tuition is massively expensive. Some support is given to MPH students, but it's not enough. When I asked about it, I got a vague "limited funds" kind of answer. Brown has millions of dollars in the bank, and the SPH is rapidly expanding...surely an extra $1-5k per MPH student wouldn't hurt - Advising for MPH students is poorly structured. Students are assigned at random to an advisor, and this worked out very poorly for me. My advisor took a completely hands-off approach and did little to nothing to help me assimilate into the rigors of academic study - Would like to see more support re: finding a thesis advisor... Master's Student: The majority of course instructors at the Brown School are supportive and brilliant. I have loved getting to learn from these instructors. My classmates are passionate and driven, and have fostered community even while we all learn remotely. The remote nature of courses during the pandemic has not strongly harmed my academic learning, but has created social and networking challenges. Still every member of the Brown School community is eager to meet with you and be a part of your growth. Current Doctoral student: Geisel is an incredible school with very passionate faculty who go out of their way to help every student find success, which is extremely rare among medical schools. Whether it be research, residency, or clinicals, I have never encountered a group of individuals so committed by default to students they may not have even met before. The match list speaks for itself; most students depart to their top choice hospitals across the country every year. On top of it all, the Upper Valley is one of the nicest areas to live in the Northeast. It has an abundance of natural beauty, is within a couple of hours of many ski mountains, two hours from Boston, and a lot of growth in the past decade has led to the creation of many cute little locally owned businesses, restaurants, and bars that are frequented by Dartmouth students. I chose Geisel of a number of other schools and have never regretted my decision once.... Read 3 reviews

Current Master's student: The Keck School of Medicine's Translational Genomics Program is a rigorous and comprehensive program that provides students with a strong foundation in genomics research and its applications. The program offers excellent resources and facilities for students, including state-of-the-art laboratories and access to cutting-edge technology. The faculty are knowledgeable and supportive, and the curriculum is well-structured and challenging. there are some areas where the program could be improved. One concern is the safety of the area surrounding the campus, which can be a bit dangerous. It would be beneficial for the program to improve security measures in order to ensure the safety of students and faculty. In addition, the program currently does not offer on-campus job opportunities, which can be challenging for international students who are not eligible to work off-campus.... Read 7 reviews

Alum: I learned a lot, but it was not worth 2 years worth of tuition money. A lot was really redundant. Your experience definitely depends on your concentration that you choose, though. However, during my first year after graduation it was almost impossible to get a decent paying job that was more than $15/hour which is not fair wage with a masters degree. Would I do it again? No, I would work in public health instead of getting a masters because Pitt charged way too much money for the degree!... Read 4 reviews
