Master's Student: I graduated from the School of Design at the College of Fine Arts. This is one best design program at a major research university. The cross disciplinary approach, and ability to take courses at other schools like business, engineering, and public policy makes the CMU experience truly unique. It’s been said that the hardest part about Harvard is getting in, and the hardest part about CMU is graduating. This very is true.... Read 4 reviews

Master's Student: My experience, so far, has been exceptional. Like all institutions, the professors come from a wide background—who you click with will be different for everyone. But the real beauty of the school and program come with the classmates. Start to finish, everyone I've meet is down to Earth, hungry, and supportive. They make you want to be a better writer.... Alum: The best thing about the FSU College of Motion Picture Arts is the small class size. In a conservatory setting like this, it allows for great one-on-one learning with the professors, and you're able to learn everything and translate it into a real-world setting. I was in the Screenwriting program, and as part of our curriculum, we traveled to London for a semester. It was life-changing and very helpful in my writing. But in the Screenwriting program, you also spend your first semester learning every aspect of production, which has been incredibly beneficial for working in the real-world industry in L.A. Our alumni network is strong, too, because we know that if you went to FSU, you were taught well and can be trusted to work with.... Read 2 reviews

Alum: The University of Iowa typically treats their grad students quite well. The faculty are dedicated to student success and go out of their way to ensure you learn what you need to, cater to your interests and skills, and have the financial security to continue your studies. Iowa pays humanities grad students well and the health insurance is both stellar and cheap. The environment is friendly and supportive rather than competitive, which was hugely important for me. I wish things could have been more interdisciplinary. The other issue and of a growing concern is that the University board and new president were heading in a direction that wasn't student friendly or focused (or faculty/staff for that matter). As I graduated (2018), there were increasing discussions of cutting benefits, assistantships, tenure packages.... Read 3 reviews

Master's Student: My school has wonderful professors, great programs. Especially, they are so considerate for all students. For example, it supports LGBTQ, Anti Asian and Black hates movement as always considers their difficulties and provides helps. And I like the challenge it is always seeking as performing new contemporary music and collaborative performances, such as mixed opera and revolutionary music activities.... Read 8 reviews

Alum: The support at the university is phenomenal, especially the Horizon Department for non-traditional students. I originally wanted Physics as my major but the university did not originally advertise the degree was under review and within my first year they discontinued the major. I was not able to major but I ended up with a Math degree with a Physics and Data Analytics minor. They were willing to focus my coursework as much as possible to get what I needed to go into Space Operations.... Read 8 reviews

Current Doctoral student: I am apart of the General Counseling Psychology Program at MSMU-LA. Our courses are tailored to push us as students to learn and apply counseling theories in our work with diverse populations in higher education, non-profit organizations, or other. Our courses are offered and paired up per semester to compliment one another for example Counseling theories course and Diverse Populations course are paired up because both can be applied to each other's course material. Our professors work around our schedules to attend to our needs and early on they begin preparing us to consider a Thesis project. They advice us and offer counseling work or TA opportunities as well. As graduate students we are allowed to be creative in our projects, it lives up to the standards of conference classroom style. With the psychology counseling we have 3 programs MFT, GCP, and ENLACES certificate program. We all get to integrate in classes, but still be apart of our own cohort group.... Read 36 reviews
