Alum: The best thing about the FSU College of Motion Picture Arts is the small class size. In a conservatory setting like this, it allows for great one-on-one learning with the professors, and you're able to learn everything and translate it into a real-world setting. I was in the Screenwriting program, and as part of our curriculum, we traveled to London for a semester. It was life-changing and very helpful in my writing. But in the Screenwriting program, you also spend your first semester learning every aspect of production, which has been incredibly beneficial for working in the real-world industry in L.A. Our alumni network is strong, too, because we know that if you went to FSU, you were taught well and can be trusted to work with.

Graduate Student: I am currently in Graduate school at Mount Saint Mary’s University. I am completing an MFA in Creative Writing and from the start, I have had nothing but good experiences. The faculty are all very knowledgeable and accessible. When I have questions, I know I can reach out and ask for help. The Doheny campus is small and really beautiful, with the old houses and Doheny Mansion that house the different classrooms and departments. This past fall, they had a creative writing conference on campus and it was great! We got to go as a class and hear speakers on the craft of writing. The creative writing faculty are all working writers and so they really know what it is to work at the craft and try to make a living.
