Alum: The Marriage and Family Therapy program was okay, some Professors are way better than others and in general, do not expect anyone to go out of their way to help you, you have to figure things out by yourself. Good luck if you are an international student, they basically have no idea what you are going through. The program is a good starting point for your career but definitely you are going to have to do a lot of additional work to be able to practice as an MFT, as per required by the licensing board, but the preparation is good enough.... Alum: I enjoyed my time at U of M's School of Education. The professors were kind and supportive, and the one-year Master's in Education with a Teaching Certificate program was awesome. The program itself was really time-consuming, but I left well-equipped with knowledge about teaching practices and child psychology. My cohort was small, so accessing teachers was always an option. The student teaching experience was good, as we got to teach in a middle school setting and a high school. The downsides were that my professors' expertise did not always match up with the content of the classes I took. The workload of the program was often unmanageable for me, and I can't imagine how hard it would have been if I had been caring for children, as many of my classmates did. I am glad I went through the program, but it was challenging.... Read 2 reviews

Master's Student: The clinical mental health counseling program has been great in emphasizing the importance of cultural competence in the counseling space. I have been able to collaborate with an amazing group of peers that make up my cohort to face challenges and concerns that arise in regard to the field of counseling. I have had some great professors who do their best to ensure we have the knowledge we need to be successful. However, there have been some adjunct professors who have other obligations that take away their time from providing feedback in a timely fashion and prolong receiving grades back for assignments. There have also been major changes in faculty that affect our ability to know what professor we will have when registering for the next semester.... Read 21 reviews

Current Master's student: To provide some context, I am currently attending NYU in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development to earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. The program is excellent in the sense that it is organized, comprehensive, and highly individualized as the class size is so small (capped at 40 per year). The program is designed to mold each student into well-rounded, generalized practitioners which sets a great foundation for us if we choose to further our careers with certain specialties. The professors of this program are without a doubt some of the most passionate people in the field and it shows during their lectures and how they interact with students. Professors highlight that while yes they are teaching us, they also learn from us with our new perspectives as well which evenly places importance on both the professor and the student. Overall, I would highly recommend this program to anyone pursuing a DPT degree.... Read 19 reviews

Doctoral Student: As a full-time staff member, part-time student, the academic rigor has been challenging yet fulfilling. The first year is designed to get a doctoral student acclimated to the level of academic rigor expected, familiar with the "lay-of-land" and introduction to research and the higher education landscape. I took a long gap between getting my masters and now pursuing my doctorate degree, so ramping up to handle the level of research needed to include the amount of reading required, and levels of presentations/activities required was a learning and balancing curve.... Master's Student: My experience has been great. Half of the program I spent online due to the pandemic and the instructors were more than happy to accommodate students so they could be successful. Graduate Student: Overall, it’s pretty good to be a grad student at TU in A&S, but that is changing rapidly. The faculty care about us and the other students do as well, but neither the Board of Trustees nor the President nor the Provost (now acting President) actually care about this particular group of students. They’d honestly rather A&S disappear to make way for “industry jobs”. If your goal is to pursue Psychology, then TU is a solid option. Other degrees housed under A&S? I’d look elsewhere just to be safe.... Read 1 review

Master's Student: They provided all the information I needed to decide I wanted to complete my masters here. I got to meet all the professors and received a full overview of the coursework. I truly appreciate how their program is only a year long and asynchronous with a cohort. So while I work with the same students in all my classes, I can still work full time and complete my classes after my 8-5 job. It's fantastic!... Read 230 reviews
