    Graduate Student: I am here for my PhD, after finishing my Masters elsewhere. I was shocked to see that graduate students are required to pay comprehensive fees, totaling $1,300 a semester for out-of-state, and $1,050 for in-state! This fee was covered at my department at my last university, as was health insurance (not covered here). That's over 10% of my annual stipend taken in fees for a lot of services I'm not using. Though I am very pleased with VT academically, I am a bit dismayed by the fees. I could see this being a deterrent for some, especially considering that lots of other great research universities cover this cost for their graduate students (as it should be).

      Alum: My experience at the University of Florida was top notch. From the faculty, staff and caliber of students I truly enjoyed all I learned and skills I obtained. Furthermore, the classroom facilities and campus buildings were very nice and up to date for all courses and needs.
      Outside of the classroom, the city of Gainesville is so much fun. Activities from grabbing some great local food to attending an athletic event were common on a day to day basis. UF is a great place to be!

        Graduate Student: I'm in my second year as a grad student at UW-Madison. It's great! I really like it! The university overall is extremely research based, which is not for everybody. I do think that the incredible reputation of this university is mostly built on alumni relations, rather than actual academic quality. Madison is a fantastic place, the campus is beautiful, and State Street leading up to the capitol are iconic.

            Graduate Student: I loved my professors, my peers, and my major. I also loved how inexpensive BYU was! The location is perfect, there are so many recreational things to do in the area, and I truly felt that the professors were there to help me learn and grow. I was devastated when I graduated, but am so thrilled that I get to go back and attend law school there for three years.

                  Graduate Student: Pros: Great faculty. Well-designed buildings for my department.
                  Cons: The campus buildings are very spread out. Meals at the campus dining center are exorbitantly expensive. Lack of funding. On- and off-campus housing is either too expensive or very low-quality (noise, lack of maintenance, mold, bad landlords).

                      Graduate Student: I appreciated the visit day that allowed accepted graduate students to meet with fellow hopefuls, professors, administrative staff and students to get a better understanding of the college, expectations, and fit. I connected with some student who were instrumental in how I approached my class work and how I was successful in those ventures. This will also provide networking opportunities when I look for work. I find that I am a lot less stressed than my fellow classmates because I prepared well for my academics on the wisdom garnered from these connections. I appreciate the professors and feel like academically I made the right decision coming here.

                          Freshman: University of Idaho is definitely one I recommend anyone to come. There's a vast amount of majors to choose from and there's so many hands-on activities that you can do in your field of major which will boost your resume. University of Idaho is fill with diversity and ethnicity. The professors and staff are amazing and extremely helpful people. The campus is a great environment to study, especially the library. The dining halls have a vast amount of food to choose from and it's absolutely delicious. The dorms and housing feels just like home and the room service is absolutely superb as they get everything you request them to do on time and efficiently. University of Idaho has beautiful buildings and amazing history to it. University of Idaho is perfect for me and I definitely recommend it to people who are searching for a University now.

                            Alum: University of Maine was a great experience that was significantly cheaper than other state Universities. The quality of education was among the best in the state especially the engineering department. Lots of activities to do with one of the best public university recreation centers in the U.S.. Plenty of trails exists for walking, biking, cross country skiing if you are into outdoor activities. People are friendly and violent crime is virtually non-existent compared to other schools located in large cities. There is plenty of nightlife and Umaine is ranked high in the party scene, lots of fun and you'll never be bored. Overall it is a perfect consideration for someone trying to keep their costs low and their education level at a maximum.

                                Graduate Student: My favorite program is the Writing Skills Improvement Program. Every other week I meet for free with a Professor for 50min to check my writing. I can ask questions about grammar and writing style. It also forces me to write on a regular basis. What a wonderful program!

                                I love the farmer’s market that comes every week on campus. It is very diversified. You can get a good lunch, or buy homemade prickly pear jam (my favorite), or get small accessories made by local artists.

                                I also use the online chat service of the library. Whether I need access to a Journal database, a newspaper, or I am looking for a software, librarians are always helpful!

                                These really improved my experience on campus!

                                  Graduate Student: I like about Texas Tech is that it is very homely. Though it has some very excellent professors serving in different departments (at least I can tell about my department where some of the national and international known faces in our fields are part of our department's faculty), I do not feel that much pressure studying here. Despite being a relatively small university, Texas Tech is trying to give its students the highest level of education so that after finishing my study, I could easily find a job. I love Lubbock's peaceful environment and one of reasons I am here at Texas Tech is its weather here in Lubbock. I would definitely recommend Texas Tech to anybody who would like to go to graduate school.

                                      Graduate Student: Iowa State is the best of both worlds. Strong and challenging academics coupled with passionate and kind individuals. I think ISU is especially good at being a "well-rounded" institution. Interdisciplinary work is encouraged, and the community is very supportive. I've also had some excellent professors!

                                            Graduate Student: Many universities claim that their professors have an open-door policy, but it’s really, really true at USU. I spend at least three to five hours with my advisor every week. It’s so clear that the professors really care about their students. And when something goes wrong in administration (because this is a university after all), the department bands together to take care of the student’s needs. I know that my department always has my back, and will offer me the right amount of direction and creative freedom. However, the town is very LDS, and diversity is a tremendous struggle. Graduate students in housing are treated a bit like children (while still encouraged to have kids themselves?) and it’s quite a peculiar environment.

                                                Graduate Student: This is a great school with so many things to offer. I have two undergraduate degress and a master's degree from MSU Bozeman. Each program is supportive yet rigorous and provides invaluable knowledge that applies to each field. My husband is also a MSU graduate (computer engineering) and his skill-set has allowed him to continue to thrive within his work-force. All of my friends that have graduated from Bozeman are not only working in their degree areas, but excelling.
                                                The Bozeman community is full of outdoor adventures and downtown is a great place to grab a cup of coffee and stroll. There are multiple ski areas, hot springs, Yellowstone National Park, and rivers to explore. Take the time to look into MSU Bozeman, you won't be disappointed.
