Niche User: I recently transferred to a different school to pursue a different major, but my two years here were amazing. I know it's cliché, but Bemidji really did feel like a 2nd home to me. It's a small town in the middle of Northern Minnesota, but that seclusion creates a lot of culture and hospitality. Though I will admit, my first two months as a freshman were a bit rough. You will find there's a lot of kids there who don't take college too seriously, but if you keep an open mind you will meet great new friends.
Biking, Fishing, Canoeing, and so on are available for you, Bemidji is a typical tourist spot for Minnesotans. There are so many beautiful paths and trails and the town is a joy to walk though.
It's not your typical college experience and may take time to adjust, but looking back I wouldn't have gone anywhere else. The winter is probably the biggest complaint I hear, but it gave me 5 months to ski, icefish, and play hockey.
To sum it up: It's affordable and fun!
Go Beavers!
