Once you have proved worthy of being in Stanford, it is not about what grades you receive and how you are better than someone else purely in academics, but about how you reach out for different experiences, how you enrich yourself with multi-disciplinary research activities, how you participate in year round activities on campus and help each other out in academics. It isn't how much you know, it is how well you use what you know. It doesn't matter what field you are in, Stanford will give you the holistic experience of studying in a University that no one else can. Don't be afraid to apply, I was very afraid, but I took the leap and here I am.

      Graduate Student: I've had an incredible experience as a grad student at UC Berkeley. The current program that I'm enrolled in is relatively new, and although there are quite a few kinks that the program is ironing out (funding, quality instructors, classroom space) what I love most about my program is the desire to include students in the decision making process to enhance the program for future students. I've enjoyed having an influence on the direction the program will take, as well as advocating for many of the basic needs of my program and fellow students. I've also enjoyed taking classes led by engaging professors who are dedicated to preparing me for the real world. I love that many of my classes have woven the theoretical aspects of academia with real-world application. Other highlights of UC Berkeley are the gorgeous campus, the extremely active student body, accessibility of resources, the myriad student engagement activities, and the name recognition the University carries. Go Bears!

        Graduate Student: So far, this school has been a million times better than the school I went to for my undergraduate degree! Even getting my education online, the school has provided me with so many resources and lectures that I can attend virtually. I never thought online school would be like this. I wish I had this much support, aid, and resources at my previous school.

          Graduate Student: In my program people are very welcoming and inviting regardless of their background. We’re accepting of all different types of people and it helps with classes too. Because everybody is so friendly, we’re all willing to help each other learn rather than tearing each other apart to get a better grade. I would like to have better buildings and toilets that don’t overflow and stink up the building though 😅

            Graduate Student: My experience in the ICP program has been highly challenging and also rewarding. I had issues with the Financial Aid office. Otherwise, most of my classes have been stimulating and have taught me a lot about myself. My experience in T-group was painful. Don't go into this program lightly! There was a 2 year process where I became highly sensitive and I cried a lot. The techniques that are used in the classes are meant to assist you in opening your heart and getting to the root of your Psychological wounds. If you don't want to do that, then you might want to re-consider coming to CIIS. I also want to suggest that you take the time to find a cozy home base in the Bay Area or nearby before you start the program. I made the mistake of moving about a month before my program started and it was a difficult transition.

                    Graduate Student: The university provided me with the opportunity to work with a leading epidemiologist in the Science, Health and Living Systems BA program. Additionally I was exposed to other faculty members that were approachable and available.
                    This is a commuter school for working adults. The school does help as much as possible and has some great resources.
                    The classes are small, and you are treated as a human being and an adult.
                    There is very little hand holding, and you are expected to be responsible for your own education.
                    It is a good school, and I am lucky to go there. I will probably continue on into one of their graduate programs.

                      Graduate Student: A really excellent, humanistic, student-centered program. I am in the Mind-Body Ph.D. program, and it has been one of the best experiences of my life. The faculty, courses, and program overall are designed for personal, professional, and academic growth. The university also prioritizes creating a community amongst students, which in the hybrid environment has been one of the most cherished aspects of the last several years! Highly recommended for anyone with interest in the psychology-related fields. The university also has clinical training, which my fellow students are enjoying, and I have benefited greatly from taking classes in other departments. The work is rigorous, and I wouldn't trade this experience for anything in the world - highly, highly, highly recommended.
