Alum: There is every tool made available to succeed there. The professors are adept and very competent and they are passionate about teaching. As I am passionate about learning, this was a good fit. They were also very passionate about making sure that we learned to think like lawyers in real world situations and to put ourselves in the client’s predicament in those real world situations.
What I did not care for was the presumption by many of my white peers that the only reason I was admitted to the school was due to affirmative action and not because I earned it. In particular, there was a particular student who quite loudly espoused this idea about the black students where the school’s administration did nothing to address this. The racial tensions were not addressed at the school, at times making the classroom setting uncomfortable. I’m unsure that diversity was valued at the school when I was there. It was controversial that students of color had separate law student unions.
