University of Michigan School of Education
Alum: I enjoyed my time at U of M's School of Education. The professors were kind and supportive, and the one-year Master's in Education with a Teaching Certificate program was awesome. The program itself was really time-consuming, but I left well-equipped with knowledge about teaching practices and child psychology. My cohort was small, so accessing teachers was always an option. The student teaching experience was good, as we got to teach in a middle school setting and a high school. The downsides were that my professors' expertise did not always match up with the content of the classes I took. The workload of the program was often unmanageable for me, and I can't imagine how hard it would have been if I had been caring for children, as many of my classmates did. I am glad I went through the program, but it was challenging.
