Master's Student: Throughout my year at HGSE, one thing I heard over and over again was that you come to the Ed school for the people. This is overwhelmingly true. Professors are extremely passionate about their discipline and have incredible experiences to share with you. They make themselves readily available before and after class as well as during office hours. You can discuss lecture material and assignments, but I took the opportunity to learn more about their professional journeys, i.e. how they ended up being professors at Harvard. Peers are similarly passionate and each comes from diverse backgrounds, as teachers, executives at NGOs, and researchers. I feel privileged to have studied alongside them.... Read 7 reviews

Current Master's student: The Professors in my Human Development Studies program are so unique and integral to the education system here at Peabody. Any student of theirs can tell how much time they spend on creating activities, coursework, and value to what we do in class. There is no "busy work" in this program; everything we do in and out of class can be utilized in the future.... Read 21 reviews

Alum: The Marriage and Family Therapy program was okay, some Professors are way better than others and in general, do not expect anyone to go out of their way to help you, you have to figure things out by yourself. Good luck if you are an international student, they basically have no idea what you are going through. The program is a good starting point for your career but definitely you are going to have to do a lot of additional work to be able to practice as an MFT, as per required by the licensing board, but the preparation is good enough.... Alum: I enjoyed my time at U of M's School of Education. The professors were kind and supportive, and the one-year Master's in Education with a Teaching Certificate program was awesome. The program itself was really time-consuming, but I left well-equipped with knowledge about teaching practices and child psychology. My cohort was small, so accessing teachers was always an option. The student teaching experience was good, as we got to teach in a middle school setting and a high school. The downsides were that my professors' expertise did not always match up with the content of the classes I took. The workload of the program was often unmanageable for me, and I can't imagine how hard it would have been if I had been caring for children, as many of my classmates did. I am glad I went through the program, but it was challenging.... Read 2 reviews

Current Master's student: To provide some context, I am currently attending NYU in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development to earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. The program is excellent in the sense that it is organized, comprehensive, and highly individualized as the class size is so small (capped at 40 per year). The program is designed to mold each student into well-rounded, generalized practitioners which sets a great foundation for us if we choose to further our careers with certain specialties. The professors of this program are without a doubt some of the most passionate people in the field and it shows during their lectures and how they interact with students. Professors highlight that while yes they are teaching us, they also learn from us with our new perspectives as well which evenly places importance on both the professor and the student. Overall, I would highly recommend this program to anyone pursuing a DPT degree.... Read 19 reviews

Alum: My experience at The George Washington University School of Education and Human Development was great. My advisors worked with me to develop a schedule that worked with my full-time work schedule, they provided me with a mentor who mentored me and coached me through my first 2 years of professional teaching while I was enrolled in their education program. They also continue, more than 10 years later, to provide me with professional development opportunities at very low or no cost. Great school, great peoople.... Read 9 reviews
