Current Master's student: The University of Washington has been a wonderful and life-changing experience. There are innumerable opportunities for volunteering and connecting with the local community. Seattle is incredibly diverse, and I have felt supported as our family has navigated various personal difficulties. The University of Washington has provided affordable housing, great food options, and a safe and beautiful campus. The education experience has been beyond impressive with interdisciplinary research, highly knowledgeable professors, and cutting-edge technology. When I applied for graduate school at the University of Washington I had only heard how amazing it was, and now am so honored to take part in the great things they are achieving!... Read 140 reviews

Current Doctoral student: The professors are very knowledgeable about their research and are very friendly. They have been welcoming to students and always available for help. However, the department lacks astronomy classes and curriculum, especially considering the number of astronomy students. Also, for those on a Teaching Assistantship, the work can be overwhelming, usually extending past the 20 hour per work week limit. In general, the program is a nice one to be in, but one should be prepared to spend more time than usual on things besides research and classes. The classes themselves are rigorous and most professors teach them well.... Read 64 reviews

Master's Student: I am in the MSN-FNP online program with Gonzaga. The instructors and advisors are amazing! I have loved this program for my MSN-FNP. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because each semester the students are required to find their own practicum placements. This has been very stressful and trying for a full-time working mom of 4 kids (triplets and a child with Special needs). Otherwise, the program is stellar.... Read 17 reviews

Master's Student: My experience at PLU has been great so far. I love the cohort model and us taking one class at a time, instead of 7 classes at one time. I love the professors they all have unique personalities and I can tell they are all very invested in the work that they do. I like how PLU has included how race, class, and gender intersect with education. These intersect and impact education at every level. It has been very interesting and informative to speak about these issues with all of my professors.... Read 13 reviews

Master's Student: Whitworth prioritizes their students. Small class sizes, available and friendly staff. At the graduate level, there is a bit of communication lacking as far as "introduction to campus" - would appreciate a brief tutorial with tips (gym membership included, ID card is a bus pass, etc). Master's Student: The college experience I have had thus far is undeniably enriching and rewarding. One of the most standout aspects is the faculty, whose unwavering kindness and willingness to offer guidance have truly enhanced my learning journey. The graduate student class sizes, intentionally kept small, have profoundly impacted the effectiveness of our lectures. This setup fosters a conducive environment for meaningful interactions and in-depth discussions, allowing for a more personalized learning experience. However, it's worth noting that the quarter-based system, while invigorating due to its fast pace, can also be a tad demanding at times. Nevertheless, this dynamic system encourages efficient time management and a focused approach to studies. In summation, the college provides a holistic and supportive atmosphere for academic growth, with only a minor caveat of the quarter-based intensity.... Read 55 reviews

Doctoral Student: The best parts of the Seattle Pacific Universities DNP-FNP program come from the community aspects that flourished between students and classmates. While not all the classes have had incredible teachers, those with caring, compassionate, and inspiring mentors have forever changed how to view the medical field. The bonds I have made with fellow students through projects and studies have also been unforgettable. I would say a part I dislike is the fact that more classes are going to an online format. This feels like it impacts the quality of the learning experience, and I hope that they reconsider changing back to a predominantly in-person model.... Read 15 reviews

Doctoral Student: I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED MY TIME AT UWT. THE CAMPUS WAS SMALL AND EASY TO TRAVERSE. PARKING WAS EASY TO HANDLE AND VERY WALKABLE. LEARNING ABOUT THE ART AND FEATURES THROUGHOUT THE CAMPUS HELPED ME FEEL PART OF THE COMMUNITY. ALSO LEARNING ABOUT THE PUYALLUP TRIBE AND THE LAND THAT THE CAMPUS STOOD UPON MADE A LARGE DIFFERENCE OF MY ATTENDANCE. IT WAS VERY SPECIAL. THE CLASSES WERE AMAZING, PROFESSORS WERE PERSONABLE AND GAVE INSIGHTS ON HOW TO MAKE THE TOPICS MORE APPEALING AND ENGAGING. I TOOK. MANY ART AND SOCIOLOGY CLASSES, TWO SUBJECTS THAT SPEAK GREATLY TO THE WORLD AT LARGE. I LEARNED SO MUCH ABOUT MYSELF AND MYSELF IN THE WORLD, WHICH WAS FASCINATING. I FEEL LIKE A NEW BEING AS I MAKE MY WAY INTO THE JOURNEY AS A COLLEGE GRADUATE, SPECTATING AND IMPLEMENTING WHAT I LEARNED AND ABSORBING ALL THAT I LEARNED AND HOW IT EITHER GOES ALONG WITH OR AGAINST WORLD VIEWS OF THOSE AROUND ME. Master's Student: So far, the only negative parts are transitioning from being an undergraduate to a graduate and feeling like I should know everything simply because I'm a graduate student. One kind of bigger issue is that it feels like the communication is slow, like the week before school starts and I'm still unaware of which classes I'm a TA in or how I should be arranging my schedule for work in the lab as a TA and for my thesis. My lab team is incredible and the undergraduates are very helpful in training me in the main procedures while my advisor/mentor is amazing at directing my research and answering my questions about everything. One of the best things about being a graduate student over an undergraduate student is that the focus is clearer. As an undergraduate I was spread incredibly thin whereas being a graduate student, I'm only splitting my focus a couple different ways and they intersect.... Read 21 reviews

Niche User: I arrived to this school in Winter, 2020. It was located about 45 minutes from my home, so I was very nervous about commuting that far every day. However, the school was incredible. Not only was the campus gorgeous and conveniently placed, the faculty was very friendly and surprisingly engaging with the students. When Covid hit the states, everyone was grounded inside, and classes switched to online. I have to say, the teachers did a very well job of figuring out how to manage online classes and make the experience great for the students. The councilors and advisors were extra attentive and responded to emails and meetings very fast. All this made my university experience incredibly pleasant!... Read 10 reviews

Master's Student: This program is taught by three lead professors. They all hold doctoral degrees. Professors from other departments fill in the gaps by teaching courses like Environmental Planning and Planning Methods. Subject matter specialists also teach courses. An example of this was an Urban Design course taught by the City of Spokane's lead designer. Subject matter specialists are also invited into classes as guest speakers. Field trips are common for most classes. Most of the courses are taught in the evening. All of the courses are at the downtown campus in the Catalyst building or they are taught online. Rolling enrollment is offered. Each cohort has about 8 students. However, a typical class will have about 16 students. Sometimes, the class will have undergraduates in attendance who are working towards a bachelor's degree as well as a master's degree. The program takes about two years to complete. The courses are based on a quarter system. Each quarter is about 10 weeks.... Read 85 reviews

Master's Student: My undergraduate experience as a science student was excellent. The contextualized learning and interdisciplinary environment made my studies more transferable. I was given many opportunities to grow and engage more, as did everyone in my program. Collaborative learning was emphasized. Many additional job skills were provided, and professors gave opportunities to learn about how to apply our studies to real world jobs. I wish that I had personally put more of an emphasis on jobs when I first started the program. There were too many good classes, and I wanted to stay and keep taking courses. On the negative side of things, some professors (mostly non-science) are not very organized or professional. My peers who didn't take a science path had to work harder to choose the appropriate classes and professors for their studies. Some classes for them were a waste of time. I only had this experience with one program.... Read 30 reviews

Current Master's student: The Seattle School focuses on a psychoanalytic approach to therapy. The downfalls are that psychoanalysis is incredibly inaccessible, hyper-individualistic, and does not appeal to a diverse array of clients. Most curriculum does not engage how to deal with a diverse array of clients. There is a lack of diversity in staff and faculty, although improvements are occurring. There is much more room in the theology programs to focus on topics of specific interests within various projects throughout the curriculum. Still. the theology programs is currently experiencing changes so many of the niche elective classes will no longer exist. Many marginalized students have a very different experience than the majority students and find the school much more difficult to navigate. There are also limited class times available due to the school being so small. It can be beneficial to knowing your instructors and peers within this smaller setting. Online students also tend to be more conservative.... Read 21 reviews
