Current Master's student: I am in my second semester of the Master's of Nursing Degree: Family Nurse Practitioner. I am thoroughly enjoying it. As a full-time student, it is a 2 year program and although it feels very condensed and content heavy, I feel supported by the amazing professors. The hardest courses (pathophysiology and pharmacology) are made easier because the best professors are teaching the content. I really like the way that the University of Virginia directs this program for its students. The education adjuncts (such as special lectures and other education applications) are money well spent by the department for its students. Faculty: It was great studying here. The environment was nice. My fellow students behavior was greatly pleasing and the professors were also very friendly and helpful.I have loved it. Alum: I graduated in 2010! Growing up in Northern Virginia, it was a miracle I could get away for many years in the beautiful Blue Ridge/Shenandoah Mountains. I'm still in contact with many of my professors who had such a life changing impact on my life, perspective and more. These new kids (generation z) really don't know how good they have it ( delivery robots, multi-million renovation on D-HALL (which is TOP 10 in the nation), 3D printers, Fabrication Labs, solar panels, new basketball arena, and so on.) Downtown Harrisonburg was non-existent back in the 2000s, and now it's a vibrant community with nice bike shops, coffee shops, and co-op grocery stores. Master's Student: The whole experience with UMW was fantastic. The faculty of professors, Doctors, and adjunct professors were always there to answer any questions you had either in person as well as via email. Even with online classes, professors were quick to initiate face to face video calls and guide you in the correct direction. The night classes I took began on time and were never held over. Alum: The support at the university is phenomenal, especially the Horizon Department for non-traditional students. I originally wanted Physics as my major but the university did not originally advertise the degree was under review and within my first year they discontinued the major. I was not able to major but I ended up with a Math degree with a Physics and Data Analytics minor. Current Master's student: I enrolled in Regent University Divinity Program in August 2022, after researching multiple universities. When I contacted Regent I was greeted by an enrollment specialist who explained my options and classes very well. This specialist also took the time to enroll me into my course for the entire semester and advised that each semester I will be automatically enrolled in my degree course. After enrolling and starting my first two classes I have had a wonderful experience. The enrollment specialist has followed up with me throughout my time at Regent. The professors are knowledgeable about their subject and have made returning to school after many years easy. I plan on making Regent my alumni and eventually obtaining my Doctorate there.... Doctoral Student: Shenandoah University provides an outstanding physical therapy doctoral program! There are two campuses available. I am currently enrolled at the Leesburg campus. Master's Student: Although Old Dominion University is not an Ivy League school, you can make it an Ivy League experience if you want. They have a superb library, and like I said in the other blurb, the professors come from highly reputable universities. This is because "history" is a highly competitive field at the moment, and only the best resumes get spots at mid-tier and lower-tier schools. So, do not take the master's program of history lightly. They will kick you out if you do not meet the standards. And this is largely because there really is little excuse considering the resources available to the students. Again, the library can be your second home, and the school has many online resources that the student can access whenever at home or away researching. Also, the inter-library loan system there is incredible and fast. So, take advantage of the resources, and use the professors who are highly knowledgeable to make the most out of your degree. Niche User: Longwood University in Farmville Virginia, sounds exactly what is reads. A quiet farming town with extensive restaurants with minimal activities to do outside of the university. Overall, the classes were easy to follow, where I learned a-lot about the topics of interest. However, I had difficulty finding rapport with some of the professors. Coming to LU as an out of state/ out of program candidate, I felt as though I was under appreciated and my questions never matter even though they could provide thoughtful discussions with everyone in class. Research was a high priority in this school, but was not provided with much direction on where to start and how to create the projects at hand.
