Master's Student: The best part of my experience was the endless amount of opportunities that were open to me. UVM is attached to a teaching hospital, so there were opportunities to volunteer, shadow, intern in the lab. We were able to learn from those who had experience in the hospitals. The graduate-level courses had instructors that worked at the hospital at the clinical level. We were constantly introduced to the research and clinical projects that were affiliated to UVM. The program at UVM is also quite small. If you are looking for a student-centered program, this one is it. The downside to this experience is there is only so many of us. With three graduate students in the program, there is not a lot of funding. If you are looking for a TA experience or a research grant, this is not the program for you. But if you are looking for a great career in medical laboratory science, and wonderful instructors that you will get to know very well, this is the program for you .... Read 30 reviews

Alum: The reading, research paper, and exam requirements were rigorous. We were expected to read hundreds of pages each week comprising textbook and journal article material. However, I found the rest of the program requirements to be lacking. Our primary assignments, outside of reading and research, were weekly posts to the discussion boards. Most of my professors interacted with the class rarely, and they did not provide much in the way of feedback, direct instruction, or guidance. Overall, I learned a lot at Norwich, but I think that is because I was personally invested. Bottom line - online school equals a largely solo and ultimately less rewarding academic experience.... Other: There were definitely a lot of ups and downs, when classes were online it was especially rough as I'm primarily focused on studio arts. Most of the things I was used to had changed, both from covid and the fact that my school is merging/ merged with other Vermont state colleges. So almost everything I knew was changed and I'm still unsure how it will work. I didn't feel that we had enough variety in class choices. Still, because of that, I took the same classes multiple times and really got to further my experience and comforts in those mediums, as well as having a very tight community because of that.... Current Doctoral student: This 1L experience has been interesting to say the least. The program is pretty intensive for a first year, but the Professors and Administrative staff are incredible and truly want to see their students succeed. There is an amazing Restorative Justice program that is incredible for those seeking to go into pubic service careers, and they also offer dual JD/Master's programs as well as just JD or Master's.... Master's Student: Having this opportunity to start this journey in the MA Educational program fills me with immense joy. But when I think about the financial aspect of this endeavor, I understand that it is worth it but I cannot help to wonder how my life will need to adapt to be able to afford this opportunity. I am a preschool teacher, and I live in the Bay Area, so financially this step in my education is very far from my budget. My financial need is great, and my desire to continue to grow in order to advocate for the children, families and all of those around me is greater. My whole education in the US has been distinguished and driven by my own work. Working full time for the last 10 years and sometimes more. I have been someone that doesn't have most of my family in this country with me, and not having the many advantages that someone who has been in this country for longer with an established life, and assets, I find myself in dire need for support....
