Alum: BYU is a great place! Everyone is very nice and accepting. We all work together to help each other out and the professors actually learn the names of their students and remember them. There is lots of room for one on one contact with professors and there is lots of help available for the success of students. One weak point is that some programs are very competitive and that causes the need tests and material that is much more difficult and requires much work outside of class to be successful. Sometimes professors will act like their class is the only one you have and they will expect you to focus on only their material. While most professors are great, there are some that are not super great at helping the students succeed, are bad at communicating to the students, or test on material not covered well in class. It is a great university, but it is definitely rigorous!... Read 97 reviews

Current Master's student: As a former foster youth without family, I can say with the utmost confidence that being part of the University of Utah College of Social Work community has been a life-changing experience for me. The program provides outstanding academic training and fosters a supportive community that values inclusivity, diversity, and social justice. The faculty and staff are passionate about their work and deeply committed to supporting their students both inside and outside of the classroom. Furthermore, the program's commitment to social justice is more than evident in the curriculum, which covers a wide range of topics, including human rights, child welfare, anti-oppressive practice, diversity and inclusion and so much more. In summary, the College of Social Work program is a welcoming and supportive community that truly values diversity and inclusivity. As a former foster youth without family, I have found a sense of belonging that has been invaluable to my personal and academic growth.... Read 116 reviews

Doctoral Student: Receiving a scholarship would greatly facilitate my pursuit of studying the relationship between language and bias in decision-making as a first-generation PhD student of psychology at USU. The financial support provided by the scholarship would alleviate the burden of tuition fees and living expenses, allowing me to dedicate more time and energy to my research. It would provide me with the resources to attend conferences, collaborate with leading experts, and access cutting-edge tools and technologies. Moreover, the recognition and validation that come with a scholarship would boost my confidence and reaffirm my commitment to making a meaningful contribution to the field. With this support, I would be able to fully immerse myself in my research, deepen my knowledge, and ultimately bring about positive change by addressing biases and promoting fair decision-making practices.... Alum: My experience at SUU has been phenomenal. I’m a firm believer that everybody who has a desire to serve and protect our community, should have some sort of degree. Over the years are just a system has gotten more trapped. Unfortunately, there is no true cure all in society. This program has taught me how to look at life with a bigger lines in mind. People do not commit crime just because, so, if we can help focus them towards the right direction and work on their mental state, all things aside to make this world a better place.... Master's Student: I am studying for a bachelor's degree in graphic design. The program has been very enjoyable so far. My teachers and counselor are always willing to help students' achieve their goals and succeed in class. For example my french teacher makes sure to give feedback often to help us improve our skills, and creates a fun, engaging atmosphere in the classroom. It really helps to make this program a memorable experience that I can learn a lot from.... Read 44 reviews

Alum: I love the Digital Cinema Program at UVU, there's a lot of good teachers to learn from. The program has lots of opportunities for students to make connections with people in the industry and many events to share your work and learn form others. The best parts of the program are the resources, I can check out equipment to film and create class and personal projects. My favorite class has been my Production class with Jenny Mackenzie, she was a phenomenal teacher, I had the best time in her class, we used school equipment, the assignments were very fun and meaningful. The worst part of my experience was my Digital Essentials of Audio course with Mike Wizz, he was the worst teacher and made my time in his class miserable, lots of people have complained about him so I hope he gets fired, he was rude, played music and videos way to loud to the point of class discomfort, he didn't teach well, he ranted about unnecessary things and taught material that was too advanced for a beginners class.... Master's Student: I am an adult learner with decades of work experience, but I had a hard time completing my bachelors as a single mom. I went to school on and off for decades but was never able to finish. Once my son was older, I was able to finish my bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Management from Western Governors University in February 2023. WGU's competency-based education allowed me to go through the curriculum and complete assignments on my own time. I was able to utilize my experience through the years and accelerate in certain courses. This was crucial to my success as I was a full-time IT Manager with a heavy workload, and I needed flexibility. I had such a positive experience with WGU that it gave me the confidence to continue learning and obtain my master’s degree. I am now in my early 40s, enrolled as a full-time graduate student at WGU with the goal of obtaining my Master of Science in Information Technology. It is never too late!... Read 572 reviews

Doctoral Student: The Best Parts: Hands-on Clinical Experience: One of the most rewarding aspects of physical therapy school is the opportunity to engage in hands-on clinical experiences. These experiences allow students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-life patient interactions, honing their assessment and treatment skills. Witnessing the positive impact made on patients' lives instills a sense of purpose and reinforces the passion for the profession. The Worst Parts: Demanding Workload: Physical therapy school demands a significant investment of time and effort. The demanding coursework, assignments, and clinical rotations can create a sense of overwhelming pressure and stress. Balancing academic responsibilities with personal well-being becomes a constant challenge. The emotional toll of witnessing patients' struggles while remaining objective can be emotionally draining.... Read 32 reviews

Master's Student: On the whole the quality is excellent, although midwifery as a whole is just now moving into an academically sound model. For a long time only those who were nurses first and then moved to calling themselves midwives had much in the way of an academic background, so it is taking time to produce a large enough number of fully academically qualified midwives....
