Master's Student: I've thoroughly enjoyed my course work taken with Northwestern's School of Professional Studies. The networking opportunities have been incredibly enriching and the faculty and staff are beyond helpful in supporting students on their academic/professional journeys. The course work is engaging, which is often hard to achieve in an online/distance learning format. I also appreciate how real world examples are used to help inform students of their career opportunities and what to expect from becoming a public administrator. I work in higher ed, supporting graduate level programs, and can tell that Northwestern has their processes down and is incredibly efficient with how they run their admissions and how they provide continuing student support. Emails are responded to in a timely manner, there are many news letters, networking opportunities provided by the program, and the staff/faculty are nothing but professionals who are dedicated to student success. Master's Student: I totally loved the learning and experience I received at Moody Theological Seminary. The professors were very knowledgeable and helpful. My classmates were amazing individuals that were eager to learn and this made the whole schooling experience a pleasurable one. I was in-person, beginning 4 years prior to the pandemic, so being on the actual Moody campus interacting with other students, staff members and faculty gave a very safe and validating feeling as people generally made me feel accepted. The college has a shared, but often unspoken value of service to others, as you are more likely to find multiple options and offers of assistance. Doctoral Student: I am studying to be a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with a specialty in Substance Use and Addiction at Loyola University Chicago. I am on track to graduate in 2025 with my doctorate. I am a part time student who has in person and online learning. When transitioning to my clinical rotations, everything will be in-person. The first two years of mainly online schooling has allowed me to work part-time which has been helpful financially. The main reason why I chose my school is because they find clinical placement sites and preceptors for the students. In many cases, this is up to the student to do without help from the institution, leaving room for chaos and potentially expanding the time it will take to officially graduate. The unfortunate part of my experience has been that I have had three different academic advisors through my course of two years. What I love about the academics of this program is that the professors are very experienced in their fields and meet each student where they are. There are not only classroom teachings there are conferences that grants are given for students to go to free of charge! Current Doctoral student: I currently attend SIUE in one of their graduate nursing programs. The staff are very helpful and supportive, however all of them are practicing providers as well which can make it difficult to have timely communication with them. There are diverse clinical sites to enable you to be a well rounded provider upon graduation. Tuition at SIUE is reasonable compared to other local areas with similar programs. The campus is very large and there is a lot for students to do around campus. Alum: I went to Olivet from 2011-2015 and recieved a Bachelors in Social Work. I was warmly welcomed into Olivet with open arms. The atmosphere is phenominal. I had professors who not only cared about my success, but also cared about my physical and emotional health during the course of my stay there. From administration all the way to financial aid, food workers, all staff there really embrace the Motto "We Believe You belong here." I am Nazarene, however Olivet was accepting of all walks of life. They had chapel services which helped with our continued spiritual growth. Even the professors who taught gen-ed courses made sure that we had the tools for success. While I was at Olivet, I utilized resources such as tutoring, mental health counseling, and extra study sessions provided by teachers or other students.
