Master's Student: My graduate degree program is Soil, Water, and Ecosystem Services. I attend online asynchronously and synchronously which is convenient. It does take scheduling with work to make the live lectures, but they are worth attending. The professors have been professional, flexible, and expert in their respective fields. The administrative team is very supportive. Graduate students are assigned an advisor the first semester to help navigate and tailor the degree to professional interests. Having a mentor has been a new and helpful experience for me as I endeavor to pursue a doctoral degree. A student can specialize in different fields related to Agroecology such as soil and water science, agronomy, agriculture and biology, or entomology and nematology. One of the challenges has been the differences in course deadlines. There is not a set schedule for all courses and due dates can vary from one course to the next. Master's Student: I am in graduate school and needed something online but also wanted something that was going to challenge me and provide me with a step further than my undergrad school provided. I compared many MPA programs and chose the University of Miami because the program was so similar to the in-person MPA program, taught by the same professors, and included the same courses. Master's Student: I recently graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Social Science with a specialization in Environmental Science and Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the College of Social Science and Public Policy. One of the best parts about the program was the fact it was very accommodating to my needs after I suffered a spinal cord injury at the beginning of the program. Considering this injury made it hard for me to get to my in-person classes, the program allowed me to receive the degree almost completely. I also enjoyed being able to take classes from different department's at the university, tailored to the specific knowledge I was seeking to receive. The only downfall or "worse" part of my experience had more to do with certain individual professor being harder to reach online than others. Doctoral Student: I am only in my second semester of the program but I have loved it so far! The classes are interesting and I like that the first semester was all online. The only negative thing I have to say is that the professors have not done a fantastic job so far at explaining the more complex topics in a way that is easy to understand. It requires a lot of the students to look up additional videos on the topics, taking time away from other studies. The professors are all really supportive though. Niche User: My overall experience here at the University of Central Florida has been amazing. First off, the dorms were way bigger than I had initially expected, and I am happy to call this my home. Secondly, I love the campus size and being able to walk everywhere. This keeps me active and I enjoy the independence of going to the gym or to the library or wherever it may be, practically whenever I want! I also enjoy the student life here on campus. Everyone I have met is very academically driven and has similar likeminded values and goals. Having a great group of friends has been the key to my great experience here on campus. Master's Student: At Florida International University, the graduate program has incredible faculty that are involved in top notch research. There are also many opportunities to collaborate and find resources to conduct your own research. The downside of the program is the red tape that every university experiences. Administrative processes are very slow and can be confusing. The cost of living is also incredibly high in Miami, so you have to beware of that. Master's Student: I have just been accepted to the Florida Institute of Technology. I am excited to be enrolled in this program because it is one of the most affordable online Applied Behavior Analysis programs with one of the highest pass rates for the BCBA exam. I was able to seamlessly apply without having to worry about being setback time with having to study for and take the GRE (not a requirement). Since I have been accepted, I have received informative communication from FIT that has helped guide me when trying to navigate my next steps as a student successfully. I am also excited about the flexibility this program offers! I am a single parent and will also be working as a full-time special education teacher. The flexibility FIT offers with class scheduling has allowed me to sign up to take my classes on Sundays so that I may be better able to maintain a work, family, and school life balance!... The only downside was my program was offered but in reality, I learned nothing about Marketing. Thank goodness I had previous experience. I would not survive in the marketing world. Current Master's student: This academic program is great because of the organization, the help of other students and the teachers are a great help. They are kind and depending on your major they have had some experience and can give you great advice. They are always open too 1on1 communication to make sure that you have a good understanding of what is being taught. I also like how the classrooms are set up with usually less than 30 students. This makes it very helpful when asking for help in class. The program and the Osprey community are open-minded and always available to help someone in need. I have had to ask for directions to my classes multiple times and I either get a great description of where to go or they even may walk with me too the class. All of this is really helpful when I became apart of this new organization out of highschool. Master's Student: The professors are outstanding and the program gears you towards a career in counseling. The best parts of the program include the continual feedback from professors and the internship experience. They require 1000 on site hours at a local internship placement which prepares you for post-licensure training. The courses were challenging and conceptually driven. We did have multiple choice exams, but primarily you will be doing group projects and papers. The program is also research driven, offering opportunities for students to participate in a research lab. Nearly all assignments require peer reviewed citations which is instrumental in evidence-based treatment. Knowing how to read and interpret current research and apply it in the counseling setting is taught and is invaluable. My internship site was at the local jail and if it wasn't for my education in statistics and research, I wouldn't have been prepared to deliver group counseling in that unique setting....
