Master's Student: World-class facilities, professors, and peers. Students get an incredible view into top-tier academics and leaders from industry given the proximity to Silicon Valley. Significant resources are provided to ensure the student-to-teacher ratio remains low while also providing access to nearly all courses to all students. Housing options exist on-campus with multiple dining, fitness, and commuter options. Free on-campus shuttle/bus service for many hours of the day.... Read 25 reviews

Graduate Student: Yale University is basically the most beautiful school in the world, by far. I still can't believe just how gorgeous the place is. Sometimes when I'm walking around by myself on the old campus, I just want to pinch myself. It's pretty much the "Blue Steel" of colleges and universities. Funny story, but my African mom basically describes it in the following terms: "ohh, it all looks like Harry Potter's world! I bet this is where he really goes to school!".... Read 18 reviews

Current Master's student: The Sustainability Masters program at Harvard University is truly incredible. The program is through the extension school, which works wonderfully for those who have full time jobs and wish to pursue graduate studies. The professors are the best part of the program - they are so knowledgeable yet humble, caring, passionate, and supportive. I have learned far more than I originally set out to, and in many different areas of sustainability. Though I have not yet graduated, I can already tell that I will be very prepared to use my degree and knowledge upon graduating.... Read 66 reviews

Graduate Student: Fantastic program at a great school! The administration is wonderful, and you feel completely supported every step of the way. Going back to school is a HUGE decision, but they have smoothed much of the road. Classes are challenging and designed to make you think critically about the topics and events being discussed. Current Master's student: University of Pennsylvania is all I ever wanted to be when I was in high school. I am happy to land my foot at the graduate program here, and the online environment wasn't as hectic as it sounds. I love the structure and layout of the class. The student success advisor was always very communicative with my wellbeing. We have gathering via zoom or even offline gatherings with our fellow classmates. The only improvement I can think of is having more face to face discussion with the professors for the course materials. I would also love my program to have research opportunities. I am looking into possible PhD programs to apply to, so it would be helpful to get my hands in the research field.... Read 89 reviews

Current Master's student: I am currently enrolled in the accelerated Master's of Public Policy and Administration program through the School of Professional Studies with Northwestern University. The program has been both challenging and eye-opening. For me, what I enjoy most about the program are the assignments and how they simulate real-world experience. Some of the assignments I have had to submit was budget and cost analysis and performance measures. The faculty are some of the best practitioners and researchers in the field with experience in DC and with local state government as well. They are all patient and open to answering all of our questions, and have been a great resource for everyone in my cohort. Northwestern University can be a slightly classist and I wish the kindness that low-income undergrad students get was extended to graduate students who come from low-income backgrounds as well.... Master's Student: I was disappointed to see that many scholarship programs funded by the school weren't available for my specific department regarding my field hours I would be completing in my 2nd year. I'm worried since I work full time and am the main financial provider for my family, but I am really excited about getting experience in my community! I have loved going to campus and meeting new people, especially since they live near LA, and they also want to make new friends to attend football games etc. I got involved in the Latinx Caucus of Social Work, this has given me the opportunity to start connecting more in my community and other students to feel welcomed and involved as well. I will be planning events on campus and outreaching to local non-university related members to increase education and be a resource. I have to explore more but it's not far from home so I love that :)... Read 327 reviews

The actual coursework is only your first 2years and I didn’t think that was the best so I wish they improved those classes or eliminated the requirement altogether. Alum: At Georgetown University's graduate school, I had multiple positive experiences. First, I enjoyed that my courses were taught by experts in my field of study; I believe that this allowed me to receive a unique education as I was learning from their personal experiences within the field, rather than simply learning material from a textbook. In addition, because of these experts being present, I believe students here have additional and exceptional resources and networking opportunities that other schools may not be able to provide. For example, because of the networking of my faculty, as well as the proximity of the medical school to my graduate school, I was able to secure an internship with a renowned minimally invasive neurosurgeon, an experience that was invaluable. The coursework was very rigorous and the professors challenged us academically with various teaching styles, expedited projects, new concepts and difficult exams.... Read 88 reviews

Doctoral Student: Tufts is a great university for anyone who is eager to develop their professional and academic careers in a small-mid sized campus space. Situated in the midst of other universities, Tufts offers students the opportunity to branch outside of campus and connect with others in the Boston area. Current Doctoral student: The faculty and staff are wonderful and the intellectual life in the department is incredible: I feel like I have been intellectually nourished since I started this program. I have gotten wonderful funding opportunities that have allowed me to travel and am currently receiving excellent career search preparation. However, the department's logistical relationship with larger bureaucratic bodies on campus is fraught, confusing, and stressful to navigate. This is not the fault of anyone in the department, but is still something that can affect the mental health of students forced to deal with it. I believe that empathy training -- especially for the benefit of interactions with neurodivergent, chronically ill, or nontraditional students -- would behoove the department enormously.... Current Master's student: I am pursuing my MS in Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. The program is very intense and competitive, but at the same time, very enriching. There are individuals from various diverse backgrounds, which always gives a unique perspective to any problems they solve. The professors are world-class because they are experts in their fields, making it so beautiful to realize that we learn from these best minds. There are a variety of courses, and we can choose whichever paths or research we want to specialize in and hence tailor our research work accordingly. My mind always gets blown away by reading about the fantastic research here, and it is sometimes quite challenging to choose which one to get into. But networking and initiating conversations with the research team already in these labs and getting to know more about the research through them helps us narrow down to what interests us....
