Alum: NYU has a strong brand name internationally, and in my honest opinion it remains among those few private institutions where you can still get the return on your investment for your education. I secured a Research Assistant Technician job for two years directly after graduating from GSAS, and the combined experiences enabled me to get into medical school after reapplication. For "city kids", New York University is the school for you. New York City is your campus, which may not be for everyone, especially those who want the traditional 'college quad' setup like at an Ivy League school or small liberal arts school. I was able to commute to school from Brooklyn. Bobst Library is like a church to me. Thank you, NYU, for helping me get a 2nd chance at becoming a doctor! I went from a failed Princeton premed to a successful University of Rochester School of Medicine alum who has gone on to becoming a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon in solo private practice.... Master's Student: The fact that Columbia University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences offers top-notch education is a no brainer. The administration and student financial offices try to help students offset the cost of attendance in a variety of ways, including assistanceships, on-campus employment, loans, etc. but sadly these are still not enough for the majority of students. Current Master's student: Studying Applied Theatre at CUNY under one of the pioneers of the profession, Christopher Vine has been an enlightening and rewarding experience. My cohort is supportive in both my academic and professional process. In recognizing that theatre and education in the US is still dominated by white leaders, it has been illuminating to be an Asian American in a space where my opinions and ideas are held in high regard by my professors and my classmates. Though I find the work to be sometimes hard and overwhelming, I'm driven to keep going because of the confidence the people in my program have in me. Master's Student: My experience at Long Island University was amazing. My major as a Graduate was Public Administration. The professors and faculty staff for this program are amazing. If you ever needed to talk to them in their office, they would make time for you. The professors guided me through all courses I took with them. The professors encourage you to speak up so your voice can be heard. I never felt restricted in the Public Administration program. I wrote several papers on topics I was passionate about. This school also has amazing sport teams and societies you can join. There was a healthy balance between studying and having fun. The school would organize fun activities for students to attend. Master's Student: The MLS program at Queens College has been so far, a very good experience.
