Master's Student: Throughout my year at HGSE, one thing I heard over and over again was that you come to the Ed school for the people. This is overwhelmingly true. Professors are extremely passionate about their discipline and have incredible experiences to share with you. They make themselves readily available before and after class as well as during office hours. You can discuss lecture material and assignments, but I took the opportunity to learn more about their professional journeys, i.e. how they ended up being professors at Harvard. Peers are similarly passionate and each comes from diverse backgrounds, as teachers, executives at NGOs, and researchers. I feel privileged to have studied alongside them.... Read 7 reviews

Master's Student: The clinical mental health counseling program has been great in emphasizing the importance of cultural competence in the counseling space. I have been able to collaborate with an amazing group of peers that make up my cohort to face challenges and concerns that arise in regard to the field of counseling. I have had some great professors who do their best to ensure we have the knowledge we need to be successful. However, there have been some adjunct professors who have other obligations that take away their time from providing feedback in a timely fashion and prolong receiving grades back for assignments. There have also been major changes in faculty that affect our ability to know what professor we will have when registering for the next semester.... Read 21 reviews

Current Master's student: To provide some context, I am currently attending NYU in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development to earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. The program is excellent in the sense that it is organized, comprehensive, and highly individualized as the class size is so small (capped at 40 per year). The program is designed to mold each student into well-rounded, generalized practitioners which sets a great foundation for us if we choose to further our careers with certain specialties. The professors of this program are without a doubt some of the most passionate people in the field and it shows during their lectures and how they interact with students. Professors highlight that while yes they are teaching us, they also learn from us with our new perspectives as well which evenly places importance on both the professor and the student. Overall, I would highly recommend this program to anyone pursuing a DPT degree.... Read 19 reviews

Master's Student: I have loved my time at UGA. I am a masters and teacher certification student. I came in right after COVID, so it was interesting to see the difference from my first semester, to my second, and then into my finals semesters in my program. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. I have always felt like I belong and so do the rest of the students in my cohort. Alum: The professors and administration are all very helpful and genuinely want to see you succeed. They make themselves available for questions and concerns often and will work with any situation to make sure you can be successful in the program and beyond. My only complaint is that I wish there had been an option to do dual tracks of the Health Education program because now I have to take far more classes outside of the program in order to sit for a specific certification exam (which is geared more toward the track that I didn't take). Overall, though, the Health Education program was so well-taught that it prepared me to pass the CHES exam on my first attempt without having studied!... Read 9 reviews
