Master's Student: Throughout my year at HGSE, one thing I heard over and over again was that you come to the Ed school for the people. This is overwhelmingly true. Professors are extremely passionate about their discipline and have incredible experiences to share with you. They make themselves readily available before and after class as well as during office hours. You can discuss lecture material and assignments, but I took the opportunity to learn more about their professional journeys, i.e. how they ended up being professors at Harvard. Peers are similarly passionate and each comes from diverse backgrounds, as teachers, executives at NGOs, and researchers. I feel privileged to have studied alongside them.... Read 7 reviews

Alum: The Marriage and Family Therapy program was okay, some Professors are way better than others and in general, do not expect anyone to go out of their way to help you, you have to figure things out by yourself. Good luck if you are an international student, they basically have no idea what you are going through. The program is a good starting point for your career but definitely you are going to have to do a lot of additional work to be able to practice as an MFT, as per required by the licensing board, but the preparation is good enough.... Current Master's student: To provide some context, I am currently attending NYU in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development to earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. The program is excellent in the sense that it is organized, comprehensive, and highly individualized as the class size is so small (capped at 40 per year). The program is designed to mold each student into well-rounded, generalized practitioners which sets a great foundation for us if we choose to further our careers with certain specialties. The professors of this program are without a doubt some of the most passionate people in the field and it shows during their lectures and how they interact with students. Professors highlight that while yes they are teaching us, they also learn from us with our new perspectives as well which evenly places importance on both the professor and the student. Overall, I would highly recommend this program to anyone pursuing a DPT degree.... Read 19 reviews

Doctoral Student: As a full-time staff member, part-time student, the academic rigor has been challenging yet fulfilling. The first year is designed to get a doctoral student acclimated to the level of academic rigor expected, familiar with the "lay-of-land" and introduction to research and the higher education landscape. I took a long gap between getting my masters and now pursuing my doctorate degree, so ramping up to handle the level of research needed to include the amount of reading required, and levels of presentations/activities required was a learning and balancing curve.... Graduate Student: I love going to William & Mary for grad school. The School of Education is beautiful, as is the rest of campus and the surrounding area. The school is well connected to resources in the community and respected by professionals. The only big issue I have is that they keep certain professors around simply because their work is well known, even though they are truly awful professors. I only had this experience with one professor in my time there, but it was a doozy, and an almost comically awful class.... Read 2 reviews

Master's Student: My experience with Wheelock College has been limited since I have not officially started at the University. I have limited experience with the school and faculty. In terms of the counseling department, and the admissions team have been extremely helpful and overall thorough. The faculty seems quite kind and open as well.
