Alum: I earned my MPA from American University in 2009. The university has a consistently nationally-ranked top MPA program due to its rigorous curriculum, and experienced and accomplished faculty that draw a diverse group of students. As a graduate student who worked full time I did not participate in student life per se but I observed it was an active campus and there are opportunities to be involved with public and international affairs due to the school’s programs and location in D.C. I formed some close bonds with other grad students and truly grew through the experience. I highly recommend the university and this degree program for students interested in public service, nonprofit sector, and policy. Current Master's student: The program is great for the career person and is incredibly accommodating to busy work/life schedules. There are many evening classes available with flexible hours. In addition, the professors are professionals in their field and their passion comes through in the classroom. Not to mention, they are very kind and understanding of other obligations. The coursework is also interesting and the readings, although challenging, are very insightful pieces that are very relevant to our field. I thoroughly enjoy being a part of the international security program and seriously recommend it to anyone who wants to take part time classes in a relaxed environment.... Read 5 reviews
