Master's Student: I love the environment at the school. Te teacher's are wonderful. My classmates are great musicians that inspire me and from whom I learn a lot. The school has great spaces to develop your studies. Although it is very expensive, the school offers scholarships mostly to international students. Their service is great, professional and friendly. There are working opportunities you can use to broaden your skills and knowledge in the industry as well as earning some income during your studies. The classes are great, it is a small school and so the classes are very focused on each individual. There are also personalized classes according to your field of study as well as electives in multiple subjects that can enrich your musicality and interests. The school is located in Harlem, close to a beautiful park. It offers on campus dorms that I believe are very expensive considering the costs of rent nearby. Master's Student: The fact that Columbia University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences offers top-notch education is a no brainer. The administration and student financial offices try to help students offset the cost of attendance in a variety of ways, including assistanceships, on-campus employment, loans, etc. but sadly these are still not enough for the majority of students. Current Master's student: Studying Applied Theatre at CUNY under one of the pioneers of the profession, Christopher Vine has been an enlightening and rewarding experience. My cohort is supportive in both my academic and professional process. In recognizing that theatre and education in the US is still dominated by white leaders, it has been illuminating to be an Asian American in a space where my opinions and ideas are held in high regard by my professors and my classmates. Though I find the work to be sometimes hard and overwhelming, I'm driven to keep going because of the confidence the people in my program have in me. Master's Student: In my two years spent in The Juilliard MFA acting program, I have received incredible acting training and entrance into a wonderful artistic community. Juilliard has focused my commitment to life-long learning and unrelenting curiosity about the human experience in order to be the most effective storyteller I can be. The holistic training has led me to clarify my artistic mission, which is: to honor my education, training, mentors, peers and unique perspective formed by my lived experience as a young woman of Indian-Argentine-Jewish-Midwestern origins through my work as an actor and writer. The program is guiding me to create art that is sensitive, collaborative and accessible, art that provides catharsis, brings joy, facilitates understanding, encourages empathy, fosters a sense of belonging, bridges cultures, helps others feel seen and heard and gives voice to the voiceless. Graduate Student: Five Towns has excellent teachers, especially in the music department. They have recently begun trying to improve the schools facilities and appearance by planting flowers and revamping the schools radio station. There are many opportunities there for all kinds of interests. The only frustrations i had with the school were when I had to deal with registrar, bursar, or financial aid. These appointments tend to take too long and sometimes it seems that no one is informed.... Read 1 review
