Current Doctoral student: Geisel is an incredible school with very passionate faculty who go out of their way to help every student find success, which is extremely rare among medical schools. Whether it be research, residency, or clinicals, I have never encountered a group of individuals so committed by default to students they may not have even met before. The match list speaks for itself; most students depart to their top choice hospitals across the country every year. On top of it all, the Upper Valley is one of the nicest areas to live in the Northeast. It has an abundance of natural beauty, is within a couple of hours of many ski mountains, two hours from Boston, and a lot of growth in the past decade has led to the creation of many cute little locally owned businesses, restaurants, and bars that are frequented by Dartmouth students. Current Master's student: The Keck School of Medicine's Translational Genomics Program is a rigorous and comprehensive program that provides students with a strong foundation in genomics research and its applications. The program offers excellent resources and facilities for students, including state-of-the-art laboratories and access to cutting-edge technology. The faculty are knowledgeable and supportive, and the curriculum is well-structured and challenging. there are some areas where the program could be improved. One concern is the safety of the area surrounding the campus, which can be a bit dangerous. Master's Student: The best part about the MPH program at Hopkins is the amount of freedom and flexibility the degree gives. I have so many interests and appreciate not having to be boxed into one specific area. Funny enough, that is also the "worst" thing about it. With the 11-month program, you do not get much time to do everything you want to do. There are so many faculty you want to connect with and so many research projects or other opportunities you want to participate in, but it would not be wise to try and do it all. Alum: NYU has a strong brand name internationally, and in my honest opinion it remains among those few private institutions where you can still get the return on your investment for your education. I secured a Research Assistant Technician job for two years directly after graduating from GSAS, and the combined experiences enabled me to get into medical school after reapplication. For "city kids", New York University is the school for you. New York City is your campus, which may not be for everyone, especially those who want the traditional 'college quad' setup like at an Ivy League school or small liberal arts school. I was able to commute to school from Brooklyn. Bobst Library is like a church to me. Thank you, NYU, for helping me get a 2nd chance at becoming a doctor! I went from a failed Princeton premed to a successful University of Rochester School of Medicine alum who has gone on to becoming a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon in solo private practice.... I've been exposed to people from all walks of life, and learned from professors who have already made and impact on me. I appreciate a lot of what Tulane has to offer. Some things that have been difficult that I think could improve are awarding more credits to students who come in with a BS in PH, creating partnerships for the required APE and more guidance on finding jobs after graduation.... All of my classes were in the evening so I would work and do my internship during the day. I was in the Sports Administration- Masters of Education program & graduated in 2012. The head of the program was also my advisor which was really nice. My internship was in the Recreation Department at Xavier and have worked in Campus Recreation ever since. Xavier’s campus was nice when I was there but it’s much nicer now. They have one of the newest, state of the art recreation centers in the country now along with more dinning & housing options. The faculty at the school are genuine and always willing to help to see the success of their students. The class sizes were relatively small which was great as this allowed you to get one on one time with your professors and really interact with your fellow classmates without feeling too shy.
