Current Master's student: The Keck School of Medicine's Translational Genomics Program is a rigorous and comprehensive program that provides students with a strong foundation in genomics research and its applications. The program offers excellent resources and facilities for students, including state-of-the-art laboratories and access to cutting-edge technology. The faculty are knowledgeable and supportive, and the curriculum is well-structured and challenging. there are some areas where the program could be improved. One concern is the safety of the area surrounding the campus, which can be a bit dangerous. It would be beneficial for the program to improve security measures in order to ensure the safety of students and faculty. Doctoral Student: I'm a doctoral student in Environmental Health Sciences, specializing in Industrial Hygiene. Initially, I had a background in public health and biology, with little knowledge in occupational health. However, my mentor saw a connection between my interest in nanotechnology's role in cancer treatment and industrial hygiene. A year in, I've benefited immensely from the program's interdisciplinary approach. I've taken courses that have deepened my understanding of occupational exposures while catering to my specific interests in cancer research. The best part has been the alignment of the program with my own research interests. Courses tailored to cancer studies have been invaluable. As for challenges, the unfamiliar territory of industrial hygiene was daunting at first but turned out to be a fulfilling venture. I have not sought care from any graduates myself, though I know individuals who have and I have met individuals who are currently employed there and who went through the program.
