Doctoral Student: In the Physics Department, the classes are wide-ranging and generally well taught. They are challenging and require the amount of effort expected of a very good graduate education. However, the department is also somewhat behind the times in the assessment that is required for a PhD. You will spend two years jumping through hoops before beginning any real work for very little money. Master's Student: Hofstra approaches academics in a manner that I have not experienced before in school. You can tell that all of the faculty and professors genuinely want to be there and teach students as much as they can to improve the future of the mental health field. The professors in this program actively encourage their students to be honest and reach out to them if help is needed. They are always willing to offer a helping hand where they can. The environment the faculty creates in this program is a safe space where questions are encouraged. They also promote integrating current events into their teaching so we can stay present on what is happening in the world that impacts our field and the clientele we will be working with. Current Master's student: Studying Applied Theatre at CUNY under one of the pioneers of the profession, Christopher Vine has been an enlightening and rewarding experience. My cohort is supportive in both my academic and professional process. In recognizing that theatre and education in the US is still dominated by white leaders, it has been illuminating to be an Asian American in a space where my opinions and ideas are held in high regard by my professors and my classmates. Though I find the work to be sometimes hard and overwhelming, I'm driven to keep going because of the confidence the people in my program have in me. Master's Student: My experience at Long Island University was amazing. My major as a Graduate was Public Administration. The professors and faculty staff for this program are amazing. If you ever needed to talk to them in their office, they would make time for you. The professors guided me through all courses I took with them. The professors encourage you to speak up so your voice can be heard. I never felt restricted in the Public Administration program. I wrote several papers on topics I was passionate about. This school also has amazing sport teams and societies you can join. There was a healthy balance between studying and having fun. The school would organize fun activities for students to attend.
