Master's Student: Pepperdine is known in the Psychology field for its great education and learning experience. The Calabasas campus has some really amazing professors. They are inspiring plus motivate and encourage their students. Those professors make their students want to come to class to learn everything they can. Unfortunately, the Calabasas campus does not get the same attention as the other locations. It can be difficult to get into classes because the program only has one course open for the Term. Due to that, it’s also anxiety provoking because you only have the option for one Professor on the specific day assigned. It’s a toss up, could work out with your work, internship, and ideal course schedule or it doesn’t. Plus fingers crossed that the one open course is with a good Professor!... Read 94 reviews

Master's Student: For the Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology program: I appreciate the professors working closely with the students, and the size of my cohort was large enough to feel like it broadly represented enough individuals, but small enough that we could feel personally close to each other as we were completing the program. The classes were rigorous but fair and informative about their subject matter. I wish the program made it clearer how crucial licensure would be to a career in clinical psychology, and that this program does not immediately lead to licensure. Doctoral Student: The staff at this school are so dedicated towards ensuring that their students succeed. They do this through complete transparency, ensuring students are financially literate, creating mentorship relationships with upperclassmen, regular check-ins, and so forth. It was immediately clear that this school is very invested in the well being of their students. They are aware of the unique difficulties that each student faces and they work hard to help any way that they can. Going back to school can be hard, but I felt so much more confident and secure in my journey when I saw how supported each individual is. They also ensure that students are fully aware what the next 5 years looks like, how we will achieve our milestones along the way, and what resources are available to help us get there. Current Doctoral student: The Chicago School program is great because I feel supported by the professors, my confidence level grows each semester, and it provides me with clinical skills needed to work with clients. I strongly believe in myself to advocate for more learning, such as asking questions or seeking out office hours for more guidance. The professors constantly are encouraging and challenging me to become a better clinician. The ways the program can improve on is through communication. Current Master's student: The concept is great. All classes are part of a blended program so students can work during the week and attend classes in person every other weekend in person. The current department chair is incredible. She can be intimidating but has all the right mindsets and is clearly very passionate about helping students succeed. Some professors are not the greatest, and communication can be murky leading to a lot of stress and confusion. However, building relationships with professors is very beneficial as they are all working professionals in their field and help make finding a job site/networking easier than most other schools do.
