Master's Student: Its a very good program that really encourages students to explore their artistic capabilities. The instructors are very experienced and are very good at teaching the students. The program is great, but could also use some improvements in the facilities, as well as overall teaching etiquette. Some instructors would be late to class, while expecting students to stay longer. Others would show little, to no enthusiasm about certain things or events.... Read 1 review

Current Master's student: So far my experience has been positive. We had the opportunity to work with actual 16mm film for a projects during the first year, which is rare even for film schools. The professors are kind and knowledgeable. I like how the program is flexible to graduate students lives and needs, as most of us are in different stages of life. It seems like they respect personal matters and will allow students to take time off if needed. This is something I value in any sort of system or institution. I am just getting started but am excited to see where my education goes with Tisch. There are many doors of opportunities in meeting people or collaborating with other artists. I'm excited to produce a body of work.... Read 8 reviews

Master's Student: All of the professors are incredibly knowledgeable, truly experts in their respective fields. Personally, I wouldn't say the academics are difficult but you need to have good study habits and know when to cut corners. They don't want to give you anything less than an A-.... Read 2 reviews

Master's Student: Smith College not only offers a full time student stipend ($21,000/year) and tuition waiver (valued ~ $35,000) for the Biological Sciences department, but you are able to pull from resources within a neighboring R1 institution: University of Massachusetts Amherst. Research experiences vary based on the selected advisor, but Smith maintains a cutting-edge genomics facility and nearly limitless resources as a well-endowed college. Faculty maintain impressive accolades and are easily reachable, as a leader in my lab, I've learned about lab management, lab training, grant writing, and the nuances behind lab operations. I've worked collaboratively with researchers at UMass and felt that my experience at Smith has been one of growth. I feel confidently in my abilities and that I am a very desirable candidate in the biotech industry after receiving my MS degree.... Read 11 reviews

Master's Student: The course work here is rigorous and exciting and will push you to become the best professional that you can be. Client interactions especially for the speech language pathology graduate program is top notch and they get you working hands on within the first couple weeks of starting the program. The support given by the professors and school are outstanding and I have had nothing but great interactions, even when I've needed help figuring things out.... Read 2 reviews

Alum: The University of Iowa typically treats their grad students quite well. The faculty are dedicated to student success and go out of their way to ensure you learn what you need to, cater to your interests and skills, and have the financial security to continue your studies. Iowa pays humanities grad students well and the health insurance is both stellar and cheap. The environment is friendly and supportive rather than competitive, which was hugely important for me. I wish things could have been more interdisciplinary. The other issue and of a growing concern is that the University board and new president were heading in a direction that wasn't student friendly or focused (or faculty/staff for that matter). As I graduated (2018), there were increasing discussions of cutting benefits, assistantships, tenure packages.... Read 3 reviews

Alum: I’ll start with the worst, being away from my family. The weather was a change from the sunny California to the cold winters in Colorado. The best thing was being the first generation of my family to graduate not only in one but to majors psychology and sociology. My family coming from a low income based and struggling with four other siblings was hard but pushed me harder for an education to pursue my dreams. My mother struggled with mental illness and addiction that almost cost me my dreams. Seeing her struggle with addiction and coming out of the darkness to become a strong sober influencer in my life help shape me in the my education goals.... Read 10 reviews
